What film did you watch last night?

:p:o:D

Clonk goes the penny!

The Christmas Party - typical silly American comedy. With dome crude laughs but second half really let it down when it just goes way beyond stupid. 5/10

Bleed for this - really surprised about this film. If you like your classic boxing cliche then this will be right down your street. Had some very very average reviews so was walking in not expecting much. Way better than I thought plus based on a real story. Really good performances and much better than Southpaw in my opinion. 8/10.

Suicide Squad - Oh how I wanted everyone else to be wrong about this film. Turns out they weren't :(

So much potential but sadly didn't deliver. Not all bad but no better than 4/10

You mean 'Office Christmas Party'? ;)

I actually thought it was pretty good for a straight up American comedy. 7/10 for me. Passed the 6 laugh test in almost the first scene, that's always a good sign.

I think it 'stinks' of hollywood template script/screen writing/actor selection.

If it broke the mould I think the characters would have worked well - Smith is a little marine 'ho' but then that's the hollywood effect driven by the american desire for movie-on-rails.

Yeah sorry typo n the pad, meant the Office Christmas party. Still 5/10 for me :D

Jason Bourne. Complete hokum and a plot more full of holes than a roll of Swiss Cheese but hey - what a rollercoaster ride !

Switch off your cynical head and it's a shed load of fun.

Loved the real time Vegas bit.

Wholly Weird.

Army of One - 8/10 - Greatest Nick Cage film in years! Easily the most convincing acting I've seen him do and hopefully it'll drag him away from his "straight to DVD" crap that he's been doing recently.

The story is shocking as it's true (US man goes to find Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan after God told him to) and somehow that comes across in a much better way than my short sentence can. The script is funny and makes you care about the other characters involved, the budget is a little lacking which shows but overall this is a character study and, while I initially thought it was a little OTT, I really enjoyed it until I saw the real person at the end and realised just how fantastic a job Cage did.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV

In terms of visuals, holy crap that was amazing!
In terms of battle choreography, holy crap that was kick-ass! Warping to the thrown weapon looked so damn cool.
In terms of story, well, standard FF fare to be honest.
In terms of voice acting, some strong, some sub-par. Lip-sync for the dub was VERY good though.
In terms of ending, pretty weak.

All in all, a rip roaring CGI FF-fest. 7/10

Suicide Squad

Eek, that wasn't good, I really was hoping it would be at least ok, but apart from Margot looking beyond hot, everything else was very, very meh. Humour fell flat, Joker was weak, action was a bit boring, and editing was intended for ADHD teenagers full of coffee.

3/10

Life, Animated - 8 / 10

Great documentary on Owen Suskind, now 23 , who developed severe autusim at aged 3 and after intially completely withdrawing from communication, his parents realised they could connect with him and bring him out of his isolation through his love/obsession with Disney films.

Suicide Squad - 4.5/10

After the big hype before release, then the abysmal reviews I went into this with mixed feelings. Was also quite tired. I didn't think it was as unbearably terrible as many would have you believe. I think it's worth a watch but won't be rewatching any time soon. Although I would've liked to have seen more on screen time with the Joker and HQ. The moments between those two I thought we're great. Also the way the actor played the Joker was also excellent.

Kubo & the two strings 9/10 - Mind, blown. The stop animation was quite frankly, incredible. The best I've ever seen. You forget it's stop motion times. All the voice actors were fantastic. The characters were great and loveable. MM was hilarious. The perfect voice for it. The story was brilliant and beautiful. My animated movie of 2016 for me. Fell in love with this one.

My only criticism is that I'd barely heard of it!

American Beauty. Not seen it in yonks. It's brilliant. Spacey and Benning are excellent t.

I love the type of pants Mena Suvari wears in the film as well

Jason Bourne. Complete hokum and a plot more full of holes than a roll of Swiss Cheese but hey - what a rollercoaster ride !

I enjoyed it too myself, really liked the ending where you think...oooh, someone has finally got one up on Bourne and then she finds the recording and realises that she has no grip on Bourne at all

Two for me:-

Enemy - yes Denis Villeneuve is now one of my favourite directors. This time Jake Gyllenhaal plays a man stuck in a rut who notices an extra in a film he watches looks exactly like him, obsession and interesting things then happen. 4/5

Tremors - watched this with the family and it is still an excellent fun film. 4/5
