what fps does a 8800 get at cod 4

Meh well the pc cod 4 is a dumbed down pos console port so ive not really tried it.

Honestly, I've played so many bad console ports and CoD isn't one; the server browser is good, its not glitched, runs nicely, controls feel like a native PC game.

Unless you mean the game itself is dumbed down console stuff.

I don't think I have the intellect to fully express my feelings on people who need 333 fps to beat others on games like CoD 4 etc... It's sad & probably only makes 0.0001 second difference.

i heard if you play naked you can jump further? you should try that.

but you dont need any more than 125fps, save your money. the lower res thing only works on well old games, it dusnt even make tht much difference in cs1.6 anymore, the pros your talking about still use lower resses cos they were used to them from years of previous versions and it makes no sense to learn a new recoil pattern.

lol just lol at this thread i think the OP needs to take a look at a decent monitor with AA + AF on then maybe his opinion will change

Human reaction time is typically slower that 1/10th of a second (the average is closer to 1/5th). Whether you game at 30, 60, 125 or 1000 fps, the vast majority of reaction delay will be caused by the human element stuck between the monitor and the mouse/keyboard. Anything above 60 fps will make little or no perceptable difference because >85% of the delay is caused by you.

Female reaction time is typically 10% slower than that of a man. That's probably why my wife takes so long to get my jokes and rarely orgasms first:).

To answer the OP my GTS at stock gets stable 125fps with everything on low at 1680x1050.

Noones claiming anything to do with reaction time, all IW CoD games use a different engine to Quake but they still all use some of the same code like the netpacket code, its the same reason strafe jumping still works.

If you don't believe me got to any Codjumper server or try a gap map (mp_gap_range). Without strafe jumping I can jump just over 220 units, strafe jumping with 60fps is around 250 units and with 333fps I can jump just over 300 units. Also the difference between 125 and 250 is minimal, I dont know any jumps where 125 wont work but 333 does, however there are some simple jumps where only 333 works.

Also the competitive difference is about 15ms just frame rendering, with everything, appart from glow, on high on my pc takes about 16ms to render frames compared to the 1.4ms for each frame above.

There are some jump on here that are only possible with 125 or 333.

@ DG what planet are you on mate? I play a lot of q3 and quake4 and that is all about FPS. I can safely tell you now that your talking rubbish, above 125 in q3 and it makes no difference I hardly see cod4 being any different. And this rubbish about pros playing it at huge fps/low resolution for the reasons you stated are lies. If anything lower visuals and that res will mean poor textures allowing enemy models and colours to stand out, a SOLID fps not 1000000million.

And you say "a serious FPS gamer" yet you own a razer, im sorry but you have been mugged :) And as for recoil, if cod4 is anything like CS its easily controlled. Stand facing a wall and fire full auto and watch the spray its more than likely the same everytime so you just compensate for this, not go and buy a new gfx card.

Gaming is not just about hardware, if you arent any good at the game you aint going any where. I could go and spend £100+ on football boots but I aint going to play any better.

Wow... all this to play on public servers. I play with the best visuals I can get away with and enjoy... otherwise I may as well just play doom.

Actually it was a well known fact that for quake 3 engine powered games framerate could make a difference between a jump being possible or not. In cod 1 on the mp map based in a prison camp certain areas could be accessed by jumping at 125fps but not below that.

Yer to play on public server like that theres no point.
All your gona do is beat a bunch of people not giving a damn.
Only if you want to play like that on clan matchs or tournaments.

Also i see no reason how higher fps, make you jump futher and have less recoil.
Yes it wokred in cod1 cos it used quite an old game engine, these days they arent effected by fps.

haha you made me laugh :D best cod team in world hmmmmmm what they use hmmm razer hmmm man played with all the mice you can play with and razers are the best for me.i will admit im not as good as i were few years back but can still play with the best when i concentrate hard enough or can be bothered , but now its more fun than clan eliteness.if you seen my xfire list :p
the hardcore cod people in here all know its true.clanbase know its true.its only a few on here who seem to debate it.

Gerrard I said anything above 125 :) Im aware of the 125 jumps, thats why q4 is limited to 90fps.

Jumping further in cod4 seems pointless it has possibly one of the easiest movements to master +forward +back +jump no air control/no crouch slide/no double jumps its simple to control.

*edit*

its gimmicks for people like you. Look on www.esreality.com it is full of quake players who I hate to admit have the biggest egos and the worlds fussiest gamers fullstop. I can safely say most of them will proberly or would recommend a intelli 3.0 or 1.1a there is simple no need for 4000dpi mice.

Your FPS in CoD games makes a huge difference. You CAN jump further/higher with 125, 250 or 333fps. You CAN shoot faster with certain fps. ~>Dg<~ hasnt been smoking anything.

sauce plx.

In Quake3/mods, sure thing, but gone are the days of frame-rate related physics.

If topic is open to any 8800, I get 60-100FPS at all times in CoD4 @ 1920x1440, every setting in Driver and Game as high as it can go.

It varies up and down depending on what part fo game and what im doing, I had bad stuttering and FPS as low as 20FPS on the POS Striker II until I redid TIM on Heatpipe.
