What games will disappoint you?

Every new game on pc disappoints me these days. I need to get myself a console and a 4k oled hdr, it's the only way to play games at launch without the buggy mess we get day in day out on PC.

Sad but true. I don't even get my hopes up for games these day as I usually end up disappointed either by performance or the game itself. Having said that, I want Mafia III to turn out all right.

Also, never buying anything from Windows Store again.

PC gaming isn't worth the huge cost of high end hardware anymore, bad port after bad port, substandard optimisation, lack of support from developers regarding patching and fixing, many lies...I'm totally tired of it all. PC gaming has been the worst I've known it of late, AAA titles are a total joke.

Just heard Mafia 3 is locked at 30fps and has a horrible console filter over it. Yay for the power of a £2000 PC, so i'd hold off on that thought. Not releasing review copies was all the proof I needed, just another way of saying "PC gamers are not in our thoughts, we only care about consoles, we are not releasing a demo to reviewers as we want to sell as many pre-orders as we can until the game gets released"

Starting to agree with you on this. Trouble is I need a desktop for Paradox titles.

You're right about buggy messes on release too, which is why I would be very very hard pressed to buy anything on release again.

It's such a shame, because PC is clearly the best platform on which to play games when they get it right.

More tempted to buy an XBOX these days than upgrade the GPU, especially as price points have all shot up a level without the performance to go with it.

1) You dont need to buy high end equipment.

2) Consoles get awful versions of games all the time.

If you switch to console gaming, be prepared to have to lower your standards dramatically, have absolutely NO way to improve or fix issues, deal with longer load times, slower download speeds, no modding, no keyboard/mouse input, lack of control customization in games, higher general prices, smaller selection of genres and games, limited and overpriced proprietary accessories, no way to tailor graphics/performance to your preferences, pay yearly subscription costs to play online and lackluster video recording options.

PC gaming is honestly better than ever. Nothing is ever perfect and you might realize the grass aint always greener on the other side...

Lots of really good games didn't release reviews before release.

Yeah, just heard about that.

You know, I was quite happy about my upgrade to the 1070 but now I see it was completely pointless. There are hardly any games I can run at least close to max settings with consistent framerates and I doubt it's because of my hardware all the time.

Can't run Quantum Break at my native res even with lowered settings because it'll eat 20 fps off my framerate.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided can't sustain constant 60fps no matter what settings I lower. Doesn't change a damn thing.

Forked out 70 quid on Forza Ultimate and it stutters in certain areas and I have to click on the icon fifteen times like an idiot to make it run, change priority etc.

Fallout 4 drops like crazy sometimes even though it's not a graphical masterpiece and has borked godrays with ridiculous requirements.

Arkham Knight was a terrible mess.

Now I hear Mafia 3 is locked at 30fps.

I don't know why I even bother anymore. I could have an XBox One and a PS4 for significantly cheaper than the price of my rig. I had a PS2 and a PS3 for years and the exclusives were a lot better (Yakuza!) and I didn't have to bother with fps or trying to fix broken games.

There's no way I'd get a current console (XB1 or PS4) but the next round of consoles for sure. If the Scorpio launches at £400 - £500, does 4k @60fps with HDR even if it is upscaled, that'll be enough to shake up these ridiculous overpriced high end GPU prices.

The only upcoming games I am looking forward to(and I am really looking forward to them) are Dishonored 2, Civ 6 and Tyranny, and I don't see a way any of them can be disappointing from what I have seen.

Half Life 3 will disappoint me when it's released because I'll be six feet under.

This.

I tend to not have expectations as such and go in with an open mind. Some of the games I really enjoy have been slated by critics and some they enjoy I hate, so it is a bit of a 'one shoe doesn't fit all' type of thing with me.

Have a bad feeling about Battlefield 1. Was excited for the game originally but after having watched a load of videos on it, something about it isn't gelling with me the way I thought it would.

Don't understand why a thread would be started in a PC games forum with the title chosen.

It's as if you want the games you're looking forward to to be sh!te! Just so you can gripe about it .??

It's a hobby, what we do to relax maybe kill some time until real life takes over!

There's a lot worse things could happen in this world

Some people enjoy being cynical for some reason. I'll never understand it.

People who are always negative and think everything sucks are some of the most miserable people to be around.

Yup, agreed!

Prepare for the lashing, how dare we question the right to be let down by something so serious as a game.

Of course there are worse things that can happen in the world, it's just a light hearted discussion about games that might not live up to the hype. Come on, all of us are guilty of over hyping a game and secretly being a bit let down surely? :p

Well I have a very long list of games that didn't live up to their billing, but I'm now going to project into the future and name(then shame if needed) games that simply won't/didn't live up to my expectations. Everyone is different, so it's all about your view.

I predict these two first will not be as good as I think:

Mafia 3
Gears of War 4

I hope I'm wrong, but 2K not releasing early review copies has set an internal alarm off for Mafia 3.

Mafia 3 is looking like you are right but Gears is getting good press and podcasts I listen to all say they loved playing the parts theyve played

I think there's way too much negativity floating around wherever you go these days.

The title of the thread is what I can't understand! Why would you want to think along those lines in the first place?
