What games will disappoint you?

I think there's way too much negativity floating around wherever you go these days.

The title of the thread is what I can't understand! Why would you want to think along those lines in the first place?

I see what you're saying about the title! My contribution to the thread was more of a worry I'd gotten a bit too overexcited about a game and may have overhyped it to myself :p. I'm still going to get the game and I'm sure I will enjoy it, I'm not going out of my way to not enjoy it haha.

Pre-Ordered Watchdogs 2. Am prepared to be disappointed after the first title but at the same time cant wait to give it a whirl.

The only game Im looking forward too is Civ VI - so thats the only game that has the potential to disappoint me lol

Some people enjoy being cynical for some reason. I'll never understand it.

People who are always negative and think everything sucks are some of the most miserable people to be around.

I don't get you, mate. Whenever someone has a problem with something or has a differing opinion, you're often there to speak as if your point of view was the only correct one. Just like when we had that discussion about Dying Light and you started your quite lengthy and disturbing pontifications about my "twisted expectations" just because I thought human enemies behaved in a weird way.

Do you really think you're any better with that self-righteous attitude and labelling people as "cynical" because they are dissatisfied with some things
?

I'm a realist. When things do suck, I won't hesitate to point it out. Don't see anything wrong with that but apparently you do, as usual. Because you always seem to have the right answer to everything. I find many of your responses to people here rather obnoxious but I rarely comment on them. Maybe you should consider letting others have an opinion on rather unimportant matters as well, or at least commenting without your usual patronising attitude?

Mafia 3 is looking like you are right but Gears is getting good press and podcasts I listen to all say they loved playing the parts theyve played

I wouldn't dismiss Mafia 3... Gears of War 4 so far is getting between 8 and 9 out of 10 which is good, I just expect more, I'll wait for some later reviews before considering taking the plunge!

Civ VI
Battlefield 1
Mafia 3 was on this list but that was confirmed 30 fps this morning so you can tick that one off.

Civilisation has disappointed me since Colonisation! Back in the 90s. So I agree with that. Mafia 3... hmmm this 30FPS for a PC has to be taking into account for a dedicated PC review, obviously most sites review console versions of games where 30FPS is almost the norm.

On console it's only the norm because it's all they can manage, When a console game can run at 60 fps it does, it's damage control when they claim there targeting 30 because that's how it should be.

Any upcoming Ubisoft game will probably be a huge disappointment given their track record.

Anything that releases on microsofts new windows store seems to always have issues so i'd steer well clear and expect the worst, even when they do eventually make it to steam.

Mafia 3 i honestly don't care too much about. Mafia 2 was ok but nothing amazing so the sequel is something i could take or leave. I'm actually suprised by the amount of hype its been getting so that normally indicates its going to be disappointing. (30fps lock is apparently being patched so at least there's that)

Star Citizen is a disappointment. If it ever gets a full release with the features promised then it will be amazing no doubt but at the moment its nothing but broken promises and missed deadlines. I feel sorry for anybody who put a lot of money into it, some of the ship pack prices are criminal!

I'm pretty hopeful for Mass Effect 4 and BF1 although i'm sure they will both be riddled with the usual EA DLC. I don't mind DLC thats done well but when you start cutting content from the main game to release as day 1 DLC you are taking the ****!

The ones that don’t perform properly. Oh sure they’ll look great in screenshots but when you play them, they stutter and crash. Totally ruins any immersion.

Yeah, just heard about that.

You know, I was quite happy about my upgrade to the 1070 but now I see it was completely pointless. There are hardly any games I can run at least close to max settings with consistent framerates and I doubt it's because of my hardware all the time.

Can't run Quantum Break at my native res even with lowered settings because it'll eat 20 fps off my framerate.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided can't sustain constant 60fps no matter what settings I lower. Doesn't change a damn thing.

Forked out 70 quid on Forza Ultimate and it stutters in certain areas and I have to click on the icon fifteen times like an idiot to make it run, change priority etc.

Fallout 4 drops like crazy sometimes even though it's not a graphical masterpiece and has borked godrays with ridiculous requirements.

Arkham Knight was a terrible mess.

Now I hear Mafia 3 is locked at 30fps.

I don't know why I even bother anymore. I could have an XBox One and a PS4 for significantly cheaper than the price of my rig. I had a PS2 and a PS3 for years and the exclusives were a lot better (Yakuza!) and I didn't have to bother with fps or trying to fix broken games.

Yes I’ve been struggling to get consistent performance with Deus EX:MD too but it sounds like a lot of other titles are like that too. Why is that? Are they just trying to do too much? The first thing I noticed about the DXMD Graphics options is: there are WAY too flippin many of them! I don’t need half of them, to be honest. I’d prefer less superfluous eye-candy and more performance instead. Games are getting more complex and performance seems to be nose-diving.

I miss Valve games, while people moan about the graphics not being bleeding edge - performance - which is far more important to me, was always consistently excellent. Do Valve make games anymore?

I hear ya. Assassins Creed : Syndicate and the Metro series should have had performance patches imo, to name two. I struggle to play either because of the lack of immersion I expect with my setup.

I stopped buying games on release a few years ago because they are usually a bit broken, so I’d wait until they were working properly, by which time they are usually cheaper too. I think it works well, plus there are always some good older games that you have missed first time around and some classics worthy of a replay (Portal 2, Bioshock etc.).

I broke that rule for Deus Ex, as I love the series and DXHR was epic, but I think I would have been better off overall if I had just left it til Christmas, by which time it will be patched (there was a massive patch a few days ago and another one today), drivers will be better, it will be cheaper and it will be a better experience. I really must stop buying games on launch, and just wait until they work properly.

Games that lock content behind achievements annoy me.
I don't have much time to play games and having to spend hours grinding content out just to see everything I've bought just ****ess me off nowadays.
I don't mind of the content is at the end of a story but if it's skill based I feel cheated. (Yes I suck at games)

It could be worse.... you could have bought Mankind Divided for 59.99 for the PS4, like I have.

Have a bad feeling about Battlefield 1. Was excited for the game originally but after having watched a load of videos on it, something about it isn't gelling with me the way I thought it would.

Totally agree. I loved BF4 but I can't see myself putting as many hours into BF1 if I buy it. It all look a bit staged/limited in the videos I've seen.

BF4 did annoy me BTW cos I wasn't good enough to unlock some of the weapons though....all a great game however
