The main reason is AMDs better 3 screen support but I'll give NV a little more time and I'll tweak mine a little more before I give in and get a 290(x)

Last two cards have been AMD, before that I had two nVidia cards. I buy whatever takes my fancy at the time

Please don't turn this thread into more of that gpu fanboy crap, see enough of that in other threads. Its been pretty good up until now, with a few notable exceptions.

says the guy with 4 deleted posts in this thread! :p

I have to say, I'm surprised by how small the margin of AMD users is. The feeling I often get is that it's much higher.

I'm also curious of how the "AMD & Nvidia" option breaks down. Do those people have Nvidia as their 'main' card and an AMD in the HTPC/laptop or vice-versa. I don't think it'd be feasible to split it down into all the combos, but just curious. I mean currently other than in a PC that using the onboard Nvidia graphics from an nForce 6 board I don't actually use my Nvidia cards, but do own them.

Graphics cards turf wars. Srs bsns.

To expand on my answer to OP's poll, I think I've pretty much swapped back and forth each upgrade :p Well, not quite true.

(pre-historic GPUs) >
AMD 9000 > 9600XT >
nV 7800 GT > 8800 GT > GTX 460 >
AMD 7850 >
nv GTX 860 (??)

Brand loyalty: none :p

Wow, 7 deleted posts in a row.
Less rage guys, no need for that.

Don't have a dedicated gpu right now and my pc is in pieces, but I am starting a new build next week.
A full EVGA rig.
Classified all around it.
Probably tri-sli.
I am not nvidia fanboy, just love evga.
If they made amd cards, I'd buy those in a heartbeat.

I like the history of your GPUs FoxEye, I have a similarly mixed history:

Abit X800 -> Sapphire X1900XT -> Gigabyte 8800GTS 512MB -> Gigabyte HD6950 OC -> MSI GTX580 -> Asus GTX670

I don't even have manufacturer loyalty now that I wrote it down. Went with Gigabyte first time round because of games bundles and second time round due to their windforce heatsink design; then after that I was water cooling and bought both cards second hand that came with water blocks already attached so took whatever came up below £200. After spending so much on water cooling I've still not spent more than £200 on a GPU.

Going forward I might go for overclocking options as my next deciding factor so I can get the most out of the money I put into my water cooling setup. Might splurge and go for a GPU over £200 this time...

Quite new to pc's, mostly owned nv cards.
