Well your signature mentions you have a X1950 Pro? that is the best card for that price point TBH.

Thats a very good point actually, the card you have is basically the one I suggested. It's the best you'll get for £155

Got a feeling the rma was a x1950pro.

Thats right yeah sorry I should have mentioned that it was the card that was the RMA. I've been having major problems with my newly bought Gecube X1950 Pro.

It will be a X1950 that I'm after, I'm just unsure which manufacturer to go for. Is the HIS worth the extra few quid for the silent cooler?

Anyone? :)

Sapphire ultimate for the cooler and better memory. HiS if you want the core up more and memory up a bit from stock.

Either of them will be good. Or get a x1950xt card?

ive just sold my sapphire 1950pro on the bay for 131 quid due to it overheating and ordered a 7900gs 512 from here will i notice a drop in performance?

Depends I think if the Sapphire was a 256 or 512? You should have gone for a HIS x1950 pro, mine runs no higher than 50C under full load and it's quicker than the 7900GS. Not much in it though I don't think, a few FPS in most games.

I'm not really gonna be overclocking. I just want something thats gonna be stable - with a good cooler and thats fast!

So its between these:

£152
Sapphire X1950 Pro 512MB
580MHz Core
1400MHz Memory

£155
HIS X1950 Pro Turbo Silent 512MB
620MHz Core
1480MHz Memory

£140
Sapphire ULTIMATE Silent 256MB
580MHz Core
1600MHz Memory

Gaming @ 1280 on a 19" LCD... Which one?

I wouldnt get the normal sapphire pro 512mb. Heard too many horror stories about overheating on the vrms.

Personally id go for the sapphire ultimate. the ram is the fastest and the core should be still great compared to HiS core. As it shouldnt effects real fps in games more than say 4 fps max. Oh and since the zalman has the larger fan it shouldnt spin as fast as the smaller fan on the HiS so it should be quieter than the HiS.

If you ever do overclock then i should think with that awsome zalman cooler on the ultimate you should be able to easily clock the core to same as HiS.

That one.

HIS! you can clock the RAM on them to 1600mhz easy and the core's already faster than the ultimate's by a fair margin. Lastly, the HIS is 512mb. The ultimate is just a sapphire but with a fancy Zalman slapped on it.
