What happened to great music in games ?

Dragon Age: Origins title, not usually my thing but I often found myself listening to it for ages before actually getting around to playing.

Ultima Online 2 Preview ;)! I remember this being one of the videos in PC Gamer magazine, along with Max Payne !

Ah yeah Max Payne was another one with great music that really fitted and enhanced the feel of the game - though IIRC that trailer uses music by teque and they then changed composers to get something a bit more fitting to the feel of the game they were going for (which is where the iconic sound comes from).

Some truly epic tracks between those max payne games.

Basically any Halo or Elder Scrolls track is awesome.

The Halo 3 song Never Forget makes me want to cry every time I hear it. Those were to be honest the best days of gaming. So much fun and laughs and I will never experience anything like it again.

Best. Thread. Ever.

Here are some of my personal faves:

A lot of the SFA3 soundtrack is awesome, I like this for some reason:

All of the SOR soundtracks are awesome, but these two I love:

Sonic 3 had a great soundtrack, two of my faves:

Some great tracks in Unreal Tournament, my fave:

The entire Thomas Was Alone soundtrack is FANTASTIC:

Doesn't really count I guess because it's a music game, but this from DDR:

Sooooo many others.

Music on new computers and consoles is easy, I like the stuff were they where hardware restricted.

C64 amazing stuff only 3 channels!

Long live the SID chip! :D ;)

Metal Gear Rising had a great soundtrack.

All the boss battles started off instrumental then the vocals were added when the boss moved in the 2nd (harder) phase.
