What happens to your Steam games when you die?

Sooo... I'm not very well and might not be around for too much longer. My Steam library, like many people's, is full of games I've bought but never installed or played. Can any of these be gifted? I'd like others to be able to make use of them, but seems to be the case that once they're activated on your accountant, regardless of installing, they're stuck there?

Any point in contacting Steam support to see if they can arrange something? (see that they haven't been played and make them giftable or something)

Seems a waste :(

You could try speaking to Steam support but unless you do pass and proof can be provided best bet would be give your login details to whomever you want access to your library.

You can't gift games that are linked to your library.

I believe there are places that offer a "digital will" type service, where you can provide all your login details and passwords to your social media and various other accounts and they can pass them on to nominated parties when you pass.

Am really sorry to hear this :( I would say honestly give all the details for the login and then get the email changed over to a different (i.e. the person who you are giving it too) then as far as Steam is concerned it is the same person with new contact details and nothing else.

Good question. I remember reading that Bruce Wilis had to fight with Apple so when he died his iTunes account worth over £100,000 went to his daughter, if you find out I would love to here what the deal is

Think this may be the way to go if the games are all locked to the account. Can leave them all in waiting for my nephew. They'll all be out of date and unplayable (or the servers shut down) by the time he's of age obviously...

I read a thread on NeoGaf recently where someone wanted to get control of a Steam account of a close friend who had recently died for their family members. I thought they didn't get anywhere and basically told the account is only for the account holder only and cannot be passed on. Somewhere there is a Steam support page which essentially says this.

I'll try and find it when I get on my PC later.

EDIT : Removed as to not cause upset in a bad situation, ( I do believe that it's important to be able to have a laugh at all points in life )

True. Not having a go at your or anything, just stood out and maybe felt a little out of place to me is all. But that is just me :)

Sorry to hear of the situation but honestly I think the simplest thing would be to do as suggested above and make sure someone else knows the login details and can change the email over etc and Steam would be none the wiser frankly.
