What have you done to your car today?

flat tyre, found a screw in it.. not a nice thing after work. What are the puncture repair prices these days ? Or is it worth giving a shot with one of those halfords repair kits ? Pull the penetrator( haha ) and patch it up with the rubber piece + cement.

Was feeling all pleased with myself from replacing the cracked coolant tank myself, then came out of a supermarket to find someone had slashed the sidewall of one of my tyres (recently purchased CSC6's) with what I assume to be a knife. Car was parked fully within a bay and I drove there particularly slowly as I wasn't feeling very well, so no idea what would possess someone to do that :(

Some people just don't need a reason, they take satisfaction from it. It's a shame that you work hard for something you enjoy but some little bell end has to vandalise it.

People are just twonks mate.

Today I had the car tracking done as I changed both wishbones as bushes and ball joints were dead.

I also picked up my freshly powder coated alloys from city powder coaters and stuck some new rainsports on them.

They all have only 1-2 balance weights on them. Very good set I think.

It's usually the tyres that need balancing, not the wheels, wheels are typically machined to balance them, not weighted.

Took the wheels off the 911 to clean them up and replace. Because they are 18 inch wheels with 265 tyres they weigh a ton and I've now hurt my shoulder lol.

Just had a single tyre fitted to a replacement wheel for my S3 today, 15g was all it needed to balance, which was nice, and the fitter used my powder coated weights.

Also changed the discs and pads (front) on the MX5, changed the front near side ABS wheel speed sensor, wet sanded and polished the headlights (they were yellow and cloudy, now they are crystal clear), and started giving it a good polishing.

Feels like a productive day.

Did you seal them after? I have read that applying a clear lacquer can really help prolong the clarity.

What grit sandpaper did you use for this job?

Newly coated wheels cause some wobble at 60+

Anyone know what I can do to remove the powder coat from the mating face between. Alloy and hub?

Sand paper?

Drove it, after spending the week in France driving a Renault Twingo hire car. Obviously the Renault is basically a race car, with its rear engine rear wheel drive layout, but I think the 1 litre N/A engine was a little lacking :p.

In fairness it's a top little thing for city driving, perfectly compliant over town roads and incredibly easy to manoeuvre, but my god I felt like it was going to implode when we had to drive through the countryside, up and down the hills.

Got into mine today and shot off like a rocket, forgot the clutch has quite a strong return spring
