What have you done to your car today?

I actually thought it was clean :/

@Acme you mean this one? :p

I can't be bothered to dig back through my posts again finding that one too!

I just did advanced search "marvt74" "trees" :p

Decided to take these, just to give you all panic attacks :p

It's parked under trees, and because i've not been driving it for work, it's been sat under trees for around 7 months now, with only 1 or 2 runs out a month. I came to use it last night and it won't start. First time it's had an issue in 9 years :(

Took the GS for a bit of a longer drive, it really is an incredible bit of kit for the money paid. Absolutely everything works apart from the backlight in the little tiny AC temperature display, which I'm sure I can sort out. :p

It drives absolutely as smooth as butter, not a peep to be heard from any of the suspension or drivetrain other than a slight 6 cylinder rumble, not a touch of vibration to be felt through the wheel.

When it is idling when stationary you can't hear anything, it is whisper quiet.

I ultimately got the price way down because the cosmetic condition isn't the greatest, the paintwork is tired, but not awful for its age. But mechanically it is fantastic, and it has full history going back to 1997 with the original bill of sale for something like £31,000 (can't remember exactly) last owner had it since 2011, 3 previous owners in total.

Its not a looker at all, but I think I'm going to leave it exactly as it is... Apart from a bit of cleaning. :)

Got fed up with the alarm going off on my Focus all evening, so shoved a paperclip in the connector that sould connect to the bonnet sensor.

Problem appears to be solved :)

Now the thieves have set back to work, their task made significantly easier. :D

Track rod ends on the fiesta today, alignment getting done during the week - couldn't believe how much local garages wanted to do these on a fiesta! Had no intention of buggering about trying to free off the old ones in the cold but quotes of over £200 for something so simple that cost £30 in parts changed my mind

Took my C class for an mot, failed miserably on corroded break lines (both rears and one front) and got the taxi of shame home :D. they showed me the picture after being repaired and they were properly rotten, anyone with a w204 should get them checked properly as the corrosion was well hidden behind all the plastic, only spotted by the eagle eyed tester, no mention of them on its previous mot's or services and the condition certainly suggested it was more than a year or two worth.
Mot also booked for the GTO on friday, hopefully that contains a few less surprises!

For stuff like that it is worth pinging a few places including main dealers, etc. - my local Nissan main dealer oddly enough will do some stuff like that for like £20-30 parts, £30-40 labour when it would cost £90+ for parts online to do myself or local independents want £100+ for parts and £100+ for labour, etc. for other things it can be the other way around.

In today's episode of Fix Or Repair Daily (FORD):

The driver's seat height adjuster handle broke...

Will be being replaced on Monday when it also goes in to have the bonnet latch replaced - both at lolworthy prices, but even 2nd hand parts for both are pretty expensive and won't get here any time soon

I hear this is quite a common and costly job! How much did they quote you?

Gotta admit it's not something I'd heard of with these. Thankfully it was only ~300 Inc the mot, probably lolworthy if I'd got Merc to do it and they'd have used steel ready to rust again in a few years time.

Gto passed its test without a single advisory :D

Probably got a NIP on the way that’s what I’ve done this week.

Either for being slightly over limit or red light which changed as I was crossing...Don’t think I was speeding but misjudged light tbf don’t really remember the circumstances but do recall what seemed like a flash.

Whether it was for my car or the someones behind will have to wait and see.

Hoping I get a course and a fine or somehow it just never gets actioned.

Should I get points just concerned how much my insurance will rise by being a relatively new driver.
