What have you done to your car today?

Noticed my headlight washers weren't working, and haven't for some time. Being an MOT fail if you have Xenons, I ordered a new motor off eBay and dreaded the job, since I was expecting to have to take the bumper off.

Turns out you can get to it (just about) if you remove the foglight, and so that was my job for this morning. Much, much less faff than I expected.

4 Braided hoses fitted to my M3 with DS2500 all round and SRF fluid. Tricky job for the hoses as the unions seize to hard pipe so you need to keep them still and remove the old brake hose. Honda system of removable Clips much better

The 2 short braided hoses that go between body and rear subframe I gave up on. No access and huge risk if the hard pipe snaps.

Chocked for a washer fluid job, we really had the fear of God put in us by JRS!

I'll let you have another look at the photo and see if you can determine why I might have thought it was a good idea.
I've looked and looked but still can't see a jack? Unless your gearbox and hand brake are faulty :p

Your car looks like it's rather sad in the first pic.

Well I've learnt something today, hadn't heard of a parking pawl before! Thanks.

Its what's engaged when you put an automatic into the P position. The teeth on the lock have a fair bit of movement so the car can still move a couple of inches forwards and back with Park engaged still.

Yeah for some reason it really resonated to learn that, I always remember how much the Mercedes wobbled coming to a stop in the Sopranos :p

Do you chock it when you park on a hill? :o

Me personally? Depends how long I'm going to laying there in front of it I guess, but I'm not exactly the model of sensibleness.

If I'm going to be laying under the front of it for a while, sure!

I'd rather be glad I did it, than wish I had! :)

You might not do it but I dont think it should be confusing why someone would. :p

Now that you've done that surely you're going to clean the car or at least treat that leather!

hehe yeah, poor girl was basically left to rot thanks to the 'rona, didn't get driven for over three months.

I've got a local gyeon guy to do a paint correction starting on the 31st, then I'm going to ceramic coat everything inside and out, CCB calipers are off to be refurbished and the wheels are off to get painted or I'm going to swap them and some cash for the 763m frozen gold jobbies.

Haven't decided on colours for the wheels and calipers yet, any thoughts?

Isofix bracket fully fit now in the Passat. Stuck some insurance on and took the littleun and missus for a spin to get some ice cream. Plenty of waves and nods from fellow classic car drivers including a lovely 70s porsche 911.

Changed oil and filter yesterday. Also noticed that my front near-side fog light was smashed to bits; spent a while removing what bits of glass remained. Not sure if I can stomach £130 for a new one from Honda, trawl ebay for spares or just blank it off...
