What have you done to your car today?

I’m looking forward to hearing about this new car whatever it is. Not really here for the half baked opinions from Captain Shed.

Hey, you're fine, and I like your little Insight, and some of the JLR stuff you've had before, but the iPace is just... Only a mother could love those looks. :p

Also curious to hear what the new motor is! Maybe he imported a Fusion so he can say it isnt a Mondeo on a technicality.

Took it in for some new rubber, i’m still mourning the loss of AWD, so opted for Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen3’s to give me a fighting chance in winter going up and down rural Northumbrian hills while avoiding the need for summer/winter rubber and yet more alloys.

Next job is to re-trim the door cards/pulls.

Had a offside rear coil spring crack on Tuesday. It's actually the first time I have heard one fail as it went off like a shotgun. Ordered a pair of KYB springs from CarPartsinMotion on Ebay for £44 delivered (20% discount voucher) on Tuesday afternoon and they turned up at 13.00 yesterday, cracking service from them as always. Anything to do with brakes or suspension I like to do in pairs across the axle so spent a couple of hours this morning changing them. I phoned the garage in the village on Tuesday before I ordered the springs and they wanted £180 a corner so for £44 and a couple of hours of my time I saved a hell of a lot of money.

The irony of the jeep that beeped me, I’m guessing because I didn’t slow down through the narrow(ish) gap (it was an easy fit), that incidentally was also easily over a ft away from the curb on their side of the road.

I watched a video on how to hardwire a dash cam. Looks very straightforward but some trim removal tools are required. I've seen kits on ebay that have 31 pieces etc. and also 4 of 5 piece kits of half the price. When would you ever need a 31 piece kit?!

No, I think I used two pieces out of that lot, a wide and narrow plastic pry tool, that’s literally it for most installs. Assuming you are using a 3 wire (+, -, acc) install, you only need to tap 3 wired and then run the cable behind the dash and up the A pillar and under the headliner, you’ll be unlucky if you need anything more than a plastic pry tool and possibly a wide plastic push tool, most camera kits I have had include one. It’s a very simple job.

I have a nylon trim wedge and two panel clip popping tools that have seen me through 8 years working at BMW/mini dealers so I can't say I've needed more. That nylon wedge is a thing of beauty for door panel work though

Replaced the bonnet vent thing. It's rather faded after 17 years of engine heating and sun baking so for under £30 for a genuine part, no brainer really...
