What have you done to your car today?

I just watched Hoovies videos on how terribly unreliable they can be, and then I come on here and see that... :p

Got the ol girl dyno'd, cant complain for a car that is hitting its late thirty's soon.

the AFR is all over the show but i suspect that is the boost controller and how it flutters to maintain a constant boost.

Video of one of the runs, smoke and flames :D
Absolutely love these things... classic ncie to see she's in great condition!!!

I fitted a set of old era-correct forged three-piece BBS RS 178 wheels, designed specifically for the car, which had taken me about two years to find and import. They need a good clean and polish but they look the part.

I also fitted a set of new Continental ExtremeContact Sport tyres, which had to be imported from the US as well. You can't get decent tyres in the right size over here, so importing is your only choice.

What blew me away is the fact that the wheel and tyre combo is 4.5kg lighter than the original. Not across the car – at each corner! I had hoped for an improvement but didn't imagine it would be that much.

It drives in a noticeably improved fashion, unsurprisingly. Definitely heading in the right direction...
100% those wheels ROCK! Suite the car so well!

Been having some issues with clearance between the exhaust connection at the down-pipe and the heat shield. i had some pattern oem style mounts which some have reported make the engine sit a bit taller. so today i have fitted a set of vibratechnic mounts to the gearbox and rear engine bracket having already had a front mount installed previously.

They have certainly improved the situation, the exhaust knocking is a lot less but may need a new downpipe to completely sort it, the negatives of installing an engine that isn't designed to be there i suppose.

Did some more. Probably the last time I'll get to touch it until I get back from Japan sometime in August. Don't look too closely, you'll see all the runs. Still, can't see it when the bonnet is shut.

Stopped it fat shaming the dog by disabling the audible occupant detection warning on his seat. Also fitted a revised EGR gasket which seems to have the unintentional benefit of being slightly smoother, though slightly less eager, but I may be kidding myself and the weather has changed significantly since yesterday.

If it drys up i’ll do battle with my growing list of electrical jobs, ‘plug and play’ apparently means the same on Chinese wiring looms as it did on Windows in the 90’s - someone tapped the wrong pin when building the harness, or more likely the pins are reversed in LHD and RHD cars for the switch gear.

Quite a while ago I rehashed all the trailer lights to LED - put new plug on and new socket on the car- Had nothing but intermittant lights failure on trailer .
Bought one of those light and socket testers and found it is the plug on trailer - not seating properly in socket so just ordered a new alloy plug and socket - been a right pain in backside.
Never buy cheap stuff.

Had my previous car (on PCP) picked up after voluntary termination and BCA inspection found I owed nothing for damage and the inspector said you could tell I had looked after it.

Car was an Audi B9 A4 2.0 TDI - it was a comfortable car in S-Line trim with a number of additional options added on, but unsurprisingly, it was very sterile in regards to the driving experience. Whilst I had no mechanical breakdowns (technically), I don't think I'll be returning to the Audi brand after several issues such as a wiring loom failure within 2 miles of driving it off the forecourt and a spring popping off the clutch (this was the technical breakdown as I was incorrectly told by Audi roadside assistance it was okay to still drive).

On the last service I was looking around the interior of new vehicles in the show room and felt underwhelmed by the interior of new Audi models, both from a design perspective and quality.

Might seem like an overaction to discount a brand due to those issues, but I had zero issues with any of the numerous boggo BMW 3 series I had when I was part of the company car scheme and they were doing significant mileage per year. The Audi was doing less than 5k a year on average.

Two Porsche GT2 RS messing about in traffic. Floored it passed them, laughed as they tried and couldn’t catch up. We all eventually get stuck in traffic and of course they try to undertake, but fail there too and give up. Nice cars though.

Wait, you have more?

My wife has the standard mini and is obsessed with it. She wants me to get the cooper works. I’m quite happy with my AMG, but it looks like a fun car.

Those other 2 belong to family members. Its contagious ha. Dad has one too.

Ooh nice which model AMG do you have? Also take a drive in a JCW see what you think.

Wow, those tips look like new. What did you use?

They came up great thanks. Gave them a good wash then used a microfiber and autosol.

SLK55 with a few modifications.

I probably will at some point, looks fun.
