What have you done to your car today?

Not really worth its own thread but... Checking MOT history over the last 15 years there are no advisories provided on a car I am looking at. I take it this is "allowed" but would it suggest the garage and car owner are mates and the garage has left it blank at the owners request? (Or alternatively the owner is the garage and does MOTs and has left it blank because he has control over it to do so...)

Or the car has had no advisories, which is entirely possible :p

Some garages are 110% anal and will put trivial things in that space like "plastic covers blocking engine" and stuff like that, whilst other garages will verbally mention trivial things to the owner instead of listing them down for no reason.

Hmm ok so not necessarily a sign of scheming shenanigans. I would have expected a 1988 Supra to have at least one advisory since 2006 though!

Dropped it off for a service this morning and they've kindly offered to fit new front discs/pads and service the rears for the bargain price of £800ish

If it was a supercar I could understand but it's basically a roller skate with an engine.

By far the most important retrofit I've done. Almost all of my cars have had a small storage compartment under the light switch area, until my previous 3 Series (which was written off) which I retrofitted the compartment to. My replacement car also didn't have the storage compartment so I finally sorted that out:

It used to look like this:

Drilled a section out and went at it with a hacksaw blade:

Some more precision trimming with the hacksaw blade:

Fortunately the cutting didn't need to be perfect as the compartment's trim covers it up, but now:

Such a small thing, but I've been so used to it being there and I do make use of the storage so I did miss it.

I also have a torch in there :) My work door pass for the odd occasion I go into the office, charge cables, a bag of euro coins since I spend a fair bit of time in Ireland these days, couple of USB sticks and generally any other tat that I don't want cluttering up my armrest storage compartment or the storage bits in the door cards.

Arguably it wasn't worth the effort, but it wasn't expensive and it kept me amused for half an hour.

Got a car for my wife and her new job last night, Mazda 2, 1.5l, 2015, Soul Red - only 8.6k miles, 1400 done in last 4 years. Literally the first 2nd car i've ever seen that was actually immaculate as suggested on the advert.

Don't you have door storage bins or other storage places?

Edit, should have read the post properly.

I just had a dual resonator delete on my M140i. Sounds great! A bit louder with more burbles and pops on the overrun in sports mode but not ridiculous and asbo like some cars you hear. In comfort mode it's barely any different to stock and absolutely no increase in noise on motorway. It's basically given me exactly what I wanted! :D

Decided to put the seat for my sim rig into the Evo. The OE seating position feels too high. Like you sit on it rather than in it.

Much better seat position and looks cool too. :)

Yesterday I went to work and got the MR2 up on a ramp to have a thorough inspection of what is required to get it roadworthy again. I recently acquired this and it's been off the road for 6 or 7 years. It's actually very solid on the underside, of course anything rubber is quite well perished and brakes are less than great. I managed to free off the front calipers as they were sticking on badly enough to stall the engine without giving it some revs to move off. It needs a pair of outer sills, but the rest of the car is very solid including all the floors and wheel arches etc. Overall very happy with how it is. Made a start on wiring up the remote locking but I ran out of time, which is obviously a priority job at this stage :D

Wow looks great!

Very minor progress on the MR2, I picked up a remote locking kit and got that fitted. I'm all for keeping things old school but remote locking is an absolute must for me. Managed to keep it nice and tidy, was quite easy to fit too with all the wires needed under the dash in one location, can barely even tell it's up in there.

Quick demo :)

Annoyingly noticed someone had scratched my rear arch! Not huge but enough to get down to the undercoat. Luckily a bit of touch up and clear lacquer seems to have masked it, still annoying though.

And then noticed condensation inside one of the indicator lenses...

This faff never ends.
