What have you done to your car today?

Not sure, the receiver drier was replaced last time too and I've had the drier replaced during the inspection service 2 service anyway as it's part of it. Garage will replace the drier/valve this time round too.

Took the subframe off the Fiesta, and put a donor one back in its place so I can get it powder coated. Thinking about poly bushing the control arms and getting them powder coated too, but apparently the rivets on the ball joint are a nightmare to drill out.

Gave it a clean and showed someone round it yesterday... They want to come and buy it tomorrow. Sad times but also, I really won't have any use for a Smart when we move out of London next month. Better to have some cash for renovation or even a project car.

How are you going to visit casa dLockers when I **** up DIY?

M5 off the road for the winter. Supra still being wired up.

So I took a deposit for the 6 Speed V160 from my supra and I ordered a full Samsonas sequential box with all the bells and whistles.

Well the AShtray failed its MOT, broken rear coil spring, 1 tyre, arb drop link and a blowy exhaust.
I just threw the key and them and told them to sort it all but stick 4 tyres on rather than 2, they're all different brands and ages and I might as well while they have it.

Aaaand it's gone. Really lovely couple at least, I hope he enjoys his little commuter car :)

Definitely haven't been eyeing up MG TFs with the cash.

never drilled the rivets out , always ground them off with a angle gringer and knocked them through, replacements come with nuts and bolts

I had a little go on one of them yesterday, cut the face of the rivet in an asterisk pattern with a Dremel as I didn't want to risk damaging the arm. I then drilled the center of the rivet out being sure to douse the drill bit in wd40, I should get some cutting fluid really, it wasn't as tough as I thought went through within a few minutes.

Finally replaced the rear brakes, been on the list for a while!

Also replaced the oil pressure switch - stops it screaming at me every other day for supposed low oil pressure (pressure gauge confirmed it wasn't). Much more peaceful!

Now considering a remap for a bit more power..

So had the garage check out the car and installed the AC pump, expansion valve and drier, all good. The juddering I was experiencing in 2nd gear under hard acceleration is not down to a worn centre bearing but instead a cracked flex disc as it has a few cracks. I remembered years ago replacing it due to cracks as well and had vibrations at motorway speeds. I know the propshaft and the joints on it are rotationally balanced, so any sort of flex or crack in these results in vibrations on the resonance created from the size of the cracks and flexing under load.

Oh also had the fuel filter changed too due to some symptoms so that's all good too.

So a new flex Febi disc has been ordered, £90 from Autodoc:cool:

Wish I had a means to easily lift the car up, that is the sort of thing I'd do myself otherwise but thankfully labour isn't too expensive at my garage. The above work only cost £150 which isn't bad at all.

Last Sunday I took my mx5 turbo into a ditch. Semi slicks on a damp cold road don't work :p. A learning experience for sure (please be careful everyone!).
Took the wing off to find that all is sweet underneath. Wing replacement TBC. I am surprised how flimsy they are.
I have found a spare door for £40 which I should be picking up over the next week or so.
Dent in the A-pillar, but not worried since the windscreen did not even break i.e. cannot be bent/twisted. I did not come to a sudden impact halt.
There are a few dents in the left sill, but certainly no worse than the S2000 poster who had his cat stolen.
Underneath looks fine.
Lucky not to have caved the front in and/or injured myself.
There is some paint damage to the bumper and the right mud flap has been snapped.

looked at img8 and thought that's not too bad then got to 3,2&1 :D that's quite impressive and must have been rather scary! least its only cosmetic

Some of you may have seen my post a few weeks ago potentially moving from a Mk 7.5 Fiesta ST3 to a Mk 8 Fiesta ST3 which was likely going to cost around £10k after Part Ex. Last night I was looking at credit cards and was preapproved for 2 at £5200 0% free for 26 months and another at £10k 0% for 17 months, basically to avoid having to take a loan. at 6% or higher (Would have only taken one card)
Anyway, I was talking with another friend today and I knew financially it didn't make sense(but sometimes that doesn't matter, right?) and she raised the point I don't actually do a huge amount of miles and she's right. I've only done 7k miles this year.

So, I'd pretty much decided that I'll keep the Mk 7. It's at 80k miles but there's nothing wrong with it, I still love it and honestly can't fault it. Plus having had a 340i I love how cheap it is to run and maintain the Fiesta. On that note; it's due for a timing belt which was sort of what started this whole thing. So I was looking for rough prices that people have paid so I know what to expect when I phone the garage and get it booked in. Turns out the Timing Belt change is due at either 10 years or 125k miles on my Mk 7. So, it turns out I have another 45k miles or 2 years before the timing belt is due.

So, the Mk 7 stays!! I'll save for 2 years and at that point I'll probably buy a Mk 8.5(very recently released), most likely in Mean Green with the Performance pack (I believe as standard on the 8.5) Virtual dash, Bang and Olufson Sound system and Panoramic roof.
In the meantime I'm going to freshen up the Mk 7 for a bit, having had it for 2 years so far (longest I've had a car, funnily enough) so I'm looking at having the interior detailed and possible externally, too. And then a few things I've been putting off for a while, an induction kit and a remap, then possibly some lowering springs but definitely some spacers. Not sure on the cost of detailing but the relatively light 'mods' should total around £700 or so, fitted.
