What have you done to your car today?

Adjusted the tappets.

Clearances are meant to be 12 thou (0.3mm) on both intake and exhaust.

They were all extremely loose, one was 90 thou (almost 2.3mm) aside from one which was marginally too tight...

I have got all the paperwork / service history documents / parts invoices and garage invoices together

This weekend i need to give it a hoover and a clean on the outside

Prepping it to be part ex'd next week (Sob sob :( )

However, looking forward to picking up the replacement car hopefully.

Dropped it off for it's service this morning. Got a brand new Leon as a loaner, I've driven 30 seconds around the corner to the gym and the complete lack of physical buttons to do anything has already annoyed me :D

Lubricated my clutch pedal spring/whatever else is there with some lithium spray grease.

Has fixed the annoying squeak I've had for a couple of weeks, but as a bigger bonus has made the clutch pedal feel much better and less "notchy". Wish I'd done it months ago

Sigh, garage I use a bit used to be owned by 2 old school gentlemen types, the surviving one especially was very hot on being organised and reasonable prices, etc. at the end of last year stepped away from the business (probably like 90+ now) and it has gone downhill massively, no one cares to be organised and price gouging. Sadly prices wise seems to be the way everywhere now though - the dealer I used a lot used to be a bit higher on labour costs than the smaller garages but much better for communication and customer service but this year they've jacked their labour rates right up :(

One of the reasons I've stuck so far with ~2017 vehicles and leaned towards Nissan - I much prefer a relatively minimal driver focussed experience with physical buttons where it makes sense for them to be so - some/many newer vehicles I do not enjoy driving at all.

Need to drop mine back at the dealer because they didn't reset the service interval :o didn't even give it a quick blast with the power washer either.

My A35 doesn't have any physical heater controls either, it's pretty annoying.

Especially in cold weather when I realise there isn't a heater either.

Wire wheeled the paint off the top tank of the radiator and polished the brass, because why not... A slight reduction in cooling efficiency for a bit of character and bling. :p

And also added a fuel pressure regulator. I like how this looks honestly. A bit complicated, but tidy.

Fitted the carplay decoder box to the r56, after all the faff of doing it turns out it doesnt work and I stupidly left it to a point where its no longer under any kind of replacement as per AliExpress' rules.

Now to bite the bullet and get a new one at some point, maybe not from the same brand this time.

Gave the 1 series e82 coup a clean and hoover out this weekend. Need to order a better snowfoam cannon than the one I have.

Finally got the Austin running well, turns out the float needle in the carburettor was upside down... (pleased to say that wasn't my doing!) :p

Smokes a bit because the carb still needs adjustment, but thats okay!

I'm sure I'd be better off making my own thread for this thing, but to be honest I think its quite funny having tinkering of a 66 year old car interspersed with people vacuuming the floor mats in their M4CS' :D
