what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

My Tritton AX Pro's had a problem with outputting very little bass, so I'm now using a Roccat Kave.

This is my setup...

Denon AHD1100 + Titanium HD for music
Harman Kardon Soundsticks III + Titanium HD for music
Roccat Kave + VIA HD onboard audio for gaming

Looking back I wish I had got a different soundcard so I could use the roccat kave with it, but this setup I think is pretty win.

Its also very easy to swap between everything and for swapping between headphones and speakers I have the extended 3.5mm adapter I got with the Denon's so I just need to get off my bum and unplug one and plug in the other.

WHy not use the denons for gaming? Surely they'd sound better than the kaves that I found pretty lacking tbh.

I find the positional sound is superior.

Having lots of drivers means you get very positional sound, the denon's sound more subtle in games but the kave's sound like "that rocket is coming from the back right, that machine gun I can hear is north west of me".

The denon's sound better but I think a multi driver headset is really beneficial for gaming imo. Its not just a gimmick.

Also, they have a mic which is handy for talking into.

Probably don't have any virtual surround setup though :/ Or perhaps not setup properly. Some games just have crap sound like BF3. It all sounds very boomy and cool until you try to use it to tell where stuff is coming from and you realise that there's sounds going off where nobody is and sometimes the direction sound is pretty vague.

BF3 doesn't have crap sound?

I'm a firm stereo-head though and will likely never go multispeaker/channel. With the Xonar STX outputting to my stereo amp to speakers or headphones I can very easily pick out sounds in all directions and the quality of the sound is simply outstanding from the clip reload sounds of a gun to the distant gunfire from a chopper or the rumbling backfire from a tank HMG shell.

It's only as boomy as your setup configuration. Mine is set-up to be as neutral as possible with slight tweaks to the tone control knob on my amp for a bit of extra detail in the highs.

I understand that the PC audio equipment I have won't be the kind of cash everyone will want to spend on their own computers but to me 2 things make or break a gaming experience, the visuals and the sound and I usually put more emphasis on the sound these days because that's what keeps you gripped on the edge of your seat.

Same goes for movies too I guess.

It's crap for a lot of people. a lot of people won't notice but I certainly found plenty of threads where people were hearing ghost sounds like footsteps and items dropping on the floor when nobody was around whatsoever. Nobody seemed to know what settings they should use, wartapes or HiFi seemed to be the popular ones but when theres a setting called headphones you'd think that would be good for actual headphones!

Ghost sounds aside, the positional didn't seem great in that game compared to others. It's not as if the audio kit on my desk and under it is cheap either... Worth more than most people's computer & monitor including my own!

GR07 Mk2 ordered ¬_¬ Read a few reviews, reads to be just up my street!

I'll eBay the Phonaks, as good as they are, I want a more balanced mid range having learned the grey filters do just that! But not finding any greys in stock anywhere means I'm left feeling a bit meh!

Had mine for nearly a year now I think. Cable went green but still sound amazing.

HD595s, I've had them over 2 years I think, maybe longer.

Tip (for decent Bass):
1. Uninstall Realtek Drivers
2. Right Click Sound Icon > Sounds > Playback > Headphones > Enhancements > Enable Bass Boost

The above boost with iTunes bass booster, gives these headphones sick bass, for me it does anyhoo.

I imagined the cable would fade and shift colours over time! All translucent cables I've had over the years have done so :p

At least would be thieves will be put off from stealing them :D

Wolf in sheep's clothing? :P

My other headphones are HD595s and to this day I still think they're the absolute dogs balls. So much detail, so much soundstage. Not too much bass, just the right amount in fact.

Yeah I've tried the 595's. Quality cans. Right now I'm using AKG K 702's as my main headphones for home. They blow my mind whenever I put them on. :D

I rediscovered mine the other week when I finally got round to using bit perfect output in WinAMP! Previously the ASIO driver would use exclusive mode regardless of the mode being on or off so when WinAMP was playing I'd find that other apps didn't play sound as ASIO was hogging the output!

Not any more, the current driver works flawlessly and I never realised just how much better bitstreaming was although having seen how it works compared to directsound/wave output, makes sense.

Actually, what do you think of the Vsonic Azza? If you've heard a pair of Sennheiser HD595/600 then how close is the sound from the Vsonic to those?

The 07 MkII are looking mighty appealing!

Didn't see your post sorry... I've not been able to get massive amount of use out of them but they're awesome!

Just had Vsonic shipping confirmation. Coming from Singapore so 2~ weeks!

Took 7 days for them to get to me including the day I got the shipping confirmation. Did you ask them to mark them down and mark as a gift?
