a bit of both really, basically I want some good headphones that I can use on my pc whilst gaming (I like to listen to music at the same time) and also on my way to and from school with my iPod :D

In that case you'd probably want to lean more toward the home use then.

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro (80 Ohm ver.)
Creative Aurvana Live
Audio Technica A700, A700X, A900, A900X
Logitech UE6000
AKG K701, Q701

These are all better than the M50's, closed back, easily driven by a portable device, and have a good enough soundstage for games.

I'm trying to find a post someone made. Basically it listed or hyperlinked to a site for in ear headphones and which were the best. IIRC it was a huge list. I'm looking for in ear headphones which don't leak sound as I will be using them in the gym and train on an Nexus Tablet and Phone for music and games with great sound.

No IEM's will leak, afraid that won't narrow it down.

I have a set of creative aurvana live, nice cans for the price and I cant fault the sound. Most importantly fit my melon head without ear ache.

Still using an ageing set of Sennheiser 580,s ..no reason to upgrade either :D
Also got a free set of Angle and Curve cans with my wifes mobile phone deal ... which are actually very good

I love the look of the akg q701 and by the sounds of it they're absolutely amazing, but at £240 I can't justify paying that much just for headphones, if I was more into audio stuff, then maybe, but not just now :p

basically, when I am spending quite a lot of money (imo) on headphones, I not only want them to sound good, I also want them to look good, as if I don't like the look of them I'm going to feel embarrassed whilst using them, discouraging me from wearing them outside of my house, I know that may sound a little stupid, but it makes sense to me at least :p

I am currently deciding whether I should get something like the hd598s, or going for a gaming headset for home, then getting IEMs for when I am out, something like the shure se215s for example and having some corsair vengeance 1300/2000s for use with my pc

Of the ones I listed the UE6000 are very portable with good isolation, and ANC even. Bigger is generally better with headphones to a point, especially closed ones, and you need it for movies/games where soundstage makes such a difference.
It's hard to get away with a single pair of hp's, I could never get away with just one pair, I can't really get away with less than ten. :o
