what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

I'm still undecided as to whether I prefer IEM's or over ears for walking about. I love the sturdiness of the over ear but you can get some astonishing IEM's these days, and they're way easier to carry around. With IEM's like the ie80's or whatever they're called, where you can replace the cable, it takes the terror out of owning an expensive pair as well!

I prefer IEMs out and about. Headphones cannot isolate anywhere near as well as IEMs, especially CIEMs. Also, I feel silly walking about with headphones on no matter how stylish they are supposed to be!

I use portables in situations where I might have to take them off frequently or don't want absolute isolation such as at work.

Fair enough, if I ever have some money that I really have no idea what to do with then I'll pick up some closed cans. I have some HD 380's at the mo, but I either use my X1's or B&W c5's. Between them I never really feel like I need anything else. Although for extended use IEM's aren't ideal, such as when I'm in the library where I doubt that others would be too happy if I used my X1's :p

Depends on the IEM for extended periods. I've gone to bed listening to music on the IE80s before and was in a world of comfort and musical pleasure.

Outside when the volume is at around 80% on my phone I cannot hear anything up to a bus, isolation is excellent considering they're not advertised as noise isolating IEMs.

I own a Sennheiser RS-180 wireless headphone, bought it 3 years ago. I think it's time for an upgrade but can't find anything better than what I already have and is reasonably priced!

RS-220 :D

No joke, they're great (for a wireless set of cans).

I hear good things about them but also that they're not worth the money to upgrade from RS-180. Also lower battery life could be annoying as RS-180's 24-hour practically has made charging totally seamless for me (leave it on the stand for the night, never run out of power).

Currently have the Denon AHD 1100 http://www.head-fi.org/products/denon-ah-d1100

What would be a decent upgrade? Currently looking at Sony MDR 1R and Philips Fidelio X1. Would either represent a good upgrade?

I think I would like a more balanced sound as the Denon's are extremely rich in bass. But don't want a boring flat sound either. I guess I'd like a more "true" sound while still being fun to listen to.

I had the Sennheiser HD 595 for a long time and I never really liked them, they were too flat and boring.

So any suggestions would be great, thanks :)

I use headphones for gaming and listening to rock/metal music.

Sony MDR-1 I would stay clear of personally I do not like the build quality too much plastics used and have from what I have a read a neutral flatish sound.

Can I ask did you run the sennheiser 595 through an amp if not that's why they probably sounded boring, from my experience with senns they do sound s a bit flat until you amp them properly.

The fidelio x1 everyone seems to love the only downsides seem to be might be too small for bigger heads and non replaceable earpads.

Fidelio x1 and DT990 pro would be the two I'd be looking at but according to innerfidelity a good reviewer i have found, the x1 are best suited to electronic music you'd have to ask an owner how they are for metal.

I'd take a chance on the x1 it would be rude not to.

My XBA-H3's are well 'burned in' now and still sound rather epic. Seem very well suited for my taste of music and have some epic bass while still producing good mids/high. Very happy with them. :)

Beyerdynamic DT-1350 Facelifts for portable use

My HD 598's Just got kicked off the stand by Philips Fidelio X1s just WOW headphones

I've just got a refund on my second replacement pair of Denons. Served me really well but *far* too fragile.

Looking at the X1's or K550 myself. I've borrowed some Senn 555 so gone from closed to open and a bit undecided. I know the X1 get high praise especially for having great bass for an open headphone but can't help thinking the K550 will respond to bass EQ better.

AKG k550's

Just took delivery of these after my goldring DR150's broke. They are certainly crystal clear, I can hear every little nuance in music and am hearing stuff I never heard before in familar tracks but the treble may be a bit too harsh for me, I hope they mellow a bit.

These things are huge. I have a massive head and I have them on the smallest setting, they would fit Andre the Giant easily. Saying that, they seal really well for me. Without sound playing they are like wearing ear defendersand with music playing there is no way I can hear my wife talk, so maybe I will keep them after all.

Took delivery of a pair of AKG Q701's yesterday (the lime green ones as they were cheaper - who cares what they look like :p ).

Extremely impressed with them so far. Not only is the sound quality brilliant, but they're extremely comfortable. I've worn several headsets in the past that make my ears hot and itchy, but worn these all day without any issue.

They also have a cable that can be replaced. In fact, it comes with 2 in the box, one with a 3.5mm jack and another with a 6.35mm.

well after my tt esports headset has broke decided to get a couple of new ones for my gaming.
came across these 2 and got both.

AFTERGLOW PRISMATIC (left pic in the image)
AFTERGLOW AGU.1 (right pic in the image)

here is a quick images of both i took together
vKOD2au.jpg

pretty happy with both of them, sounds are pretty good for both sets. colours on 1st set can be changed but they are constant blue on the 2nd.
3 mode presets on both headsets and pretty confortable after a few hours.
both are wireless and compatible with pc, xbox,wi, ps3 ,tv's and mobile devices but i only use them for the pc at the moment

the AGU.1 set seems to be a little tighter on the head due to the band along the top as it has a cable like fitting which does stretch but seems pretty tight.

For gaming:

QPAD QH90s - Light, comfortable, with a really clear non-surround sound and good isolation thanks to the closed cups. The removable microphone works really well and doesn't get in the way of my TrackIR5 ProClip unlike ever other headset I've used...

For music:

Philiips Fidelio L1 - Purchased these for home use, but they were so comfortable I now use them for my daily Tube/train commute. Slight sound leakage due to the semi-open backed cups, but this does mean that you can hear the train/Tube PA without removing them.

Very solid construction does make them a little bulky, but I have a large pack to put them in and they've survived 6 months so far...

My setup at the moment. Excuse the ghetto mounting of the SP120s behind, its being changed soon ;)
