what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

Sold Fidelio X2s and bought Steelseries 800s. The auto chat function is a godsend and having no wires is a godsend. The loss of openness and overall volume is a worthwhile tradeoff as my needs have changed to more gaming and films than music now my spotify 2 year gift has ended. Having said this music is still really fun, just no mega deep bass anymore but that's more a wireless RF thing.

Beyerdynamic DT990 - my first and only pair of standalone headphones after my mic heasdset ones never seemed to last for more than a year before one side gave up, very happy with them.

I now just use a webcam mic with a mute toggle on my mouse, wouldn't go back to the old solution.

After a long time with my SE535 I've come to the conclusion that they have the best tonal balance I think I've heard. They are so natural, really lifelike. The voices haunt my ears! I'd say the mids are about on par with the 650, LCD-2PF. Loads of people complain about the bass on headfi....they really need hearing test as they go right down into the depths offering the most natural bass I've heard.

The SE215 I have has a more elevated bass that hits hard but it isn't as linear through the whole response. The treble doesn't sound rolled off to me, it's airy, maybe missing the last octave but it's within that acceptable level IMO.

SE535 are a win!

I would hope you do like them, £320 is more than I'm willing to spend on IEMs :D

You going all the way to the top of the food chain with the SE846?

Picked up a pair of HD598SEs on Black Friday. Is it just me or are these severely overated for music considering the reviews they get? Each to their own I guess, but they sounded like a cheap headset next to my 650s. Having said that, they do sound fantastic with my digital piano as it's wide soundstage lends itself pretty well to that.

I loved mine until I broke them. I replaced them with SE846 and the bass is certainly more noticeable than the SE535

I'll probably stop here with the SE535 for IEM. I'm just going to wait, the LCD-2's seem to have improved their consistency, graphs look much better than they where 6 months ago or so. I'll probably just wait till next year and grab a set. The Nighthawks get lots of ear time and I'm really enjoying them.

I like the 598 really nice mids, sadly compared to hifi headphones their flaws are really obvious.

Guess what I just bought....Ridz is going to get a kick out of this.

HD650.

Didn't you mention the 650s got newer drivers sometime this year? How are those working out for you? I owned an older pair back in like 2013 and wonder if I'd still enjoy the newer pairs.

I can't confirm it but there's been some batches that have been more raw sounding. My pair has actually become as normal so maybe it's the pads as people said, and now mine sofend up quicker.

I also wonder if it's my previous Dacs. I'm using the Mojo at the moment which is resolving and smooth.

I just came across the best comment I've ever read regarding audio and I complete agree.

"equipment that 'wows' on first listen always seems to get relegated to the cupboard and eventually sold. HD650 was more of a slow burn, it renders subtleties in music and has a tonal balance that I am yet to tire of"

So true, even after having them for quite some time, I am still hearing little details in songs that I have never noticed before - every time I put them on it's like going on a little audio adventure. :D

Found some pictures of my older stuff

Really want to get some headphones with the wood finish surround - but at the back of my mind they would always be a substitute for the Orpheus :S

After some limited listening I found the TH-X00 was not any better than the 7520 but do have a wider soundstage. Lucky I got the 7520 for a bargain brand new. But i do love the look of woodies, they look fab IRL.
