What Headset do you use and why?

Soundcard: Asus Xonar Essence STX

paired with either:

Beyerdynamic DT880s

or

Razer Carcharias Gaming Headset

I use the DT880s for the majority of the time - music, gaming, movies etc. They sound absolutely phantastic, but can get a little uncomfortable after hours of use.

I use the Razer Carcharias Gaming Headset when playing MMOs, truth be told they are pretty awesome as well and not that far behind the DT880s. At least not as far as you would think given the price difference.

They are also extremely comfortable.

I also own some Goldring NS 1000 that I use for traveling / outside etc only.

last thing, the step up from onboard to the Essence STX was mind blowing. Seemed like I was living in a cave and just stepped out seeing the outside world for the first time.

Sennheiser PC360 with myAsus xonar d2x because I used to have to much money in my wallet. :P

the Senheiser are so comfy and you can't hear the Mrs moan when you got them on. Sound quality is amaizing and the Xonar makes it even better

Sennhesier HD650s > DTS/DD Amplifier > Onboard sound over Coax S/PDIF (digital connection)

HD650s picked for good quality, clean stereo sound in a lightweight, super comfortable. Yes it's a 200+ headset but they have lasted me for years and years, would never go back to budget/cheap cans. Only consideration should be when listening around others, open design = some sound leaks.

Amplifier as you cannot run the above from on-board sound. Exceptional clarity. The DTS/DD does a far better job of pseudo-surround than any 5.1 headset I have ever used. Stereo reproduction on a quality headset is just far better IMO.

Onboard sound - Using a digital connection to an amplifier which does the processing. Zero gain for me getting a better soundcard. If I was using my headphones directly into a card over a purely analogue connection then I would absolutely invest in a dedicated sound card.

No mic on the HD650s obviously. I use a USB desk standing mic. The digital transport nature of USB has been FAR better than any analogue connection I have been able to get with my systems, probably due to onboard sound and silly levels of interference. It did present problems in that standing on the desk you type on = vibration = TAKATAKA noises. I've since No More Nailsed it to the wall :D

My out and about/laptop/travel choice is a set of Sennheiser PXCs. Absolutely excellent active noise cancellation in an over-the-ear foldable design. Best money on a travel product I have ever spent. Removing that low drone of aircraft and otherwise is <333333

Sennheiser HD595 + Creative Xtreme Music sound card.

Best headphones I've had so far and lasted me for 4-5 years now. Good sound quality, light and comfortable. Some of the small movable plastic parts on the headband broke but I just glued it together :D Still feels the same as new. I can wear these and forget they're on. I've dropped them a bunch and probably been a bit rough with em at times, but its still working

I use xtreme soundcard in gaming mode with CMSS-3d and set windows and games to 5.1. Seems to work well

Headphones: Roccat Kave 5.1
Sound Card: Asus Xonar D1

Very pleased with the headset and mic great for gaming not massively full of bass but good enough for gaming and music still.

I recon that's your sound card tbh mate cause I can make my eye balls vibrate with my kaves + a D2X.

Headphones: Sennhesier PC360 - Great Make Good Sound Best headphones i've used
Soundcard ASUS DX 7.1 - Only card they had out at the time.

I use headphones because they give a great experience of sound. i Feel this headset is one of best you can buy & wouldn't change it.
