think of the possibilities:
Guild of musicians: Bard
Unseen University: Wizard
Ramtops: Witch (possible broomstick mount(not like that, i know you lot...))
Theives Guild: Rogue/Thief
Assassins Guild: Rogue/Assassin
Watch: Corporal captain or whatever, i'm not an MMO person
Alchemists guild: some sort of something alchemical
do you have priests in any MMOs because you could have priests for each religion or something

Your missing:
* Dwarves - Captain Carrot..
* Witches

DEFINATELY a non text based discworld mmo.. never even thought about wishing to play an mmorpg before, untill rincewind piped up :D cheers dude!

/me waits for developers to get scripting...

Discworld for sure! I would like Stargate too, apparently there IS one being made but it's all deadly quiet on the progress front.

One for me would be the Nights Dawn universe from Peter F Hamilton's Trilogy

This guy ******* knows it! It would be insane, people having the ability to come back from the dark little place of lost souls and take over a hosts body as they get beaten by your friends till they border on death.

The limitless worlds, species, ships, abilities. It would be fantastic.

Can't see Discworld working, on the grounds that 9/10 of all MMO players aren't funny.

I'd like the Warhammer 40K spinoff, Necromunda... It's got everything it needs- small group warfare/turf wars, varied environs, any number of monsters, a good background, nods to cyberpunk... And most importantly, not too big. All in a properly grim battle-for-survival backdrop. It'd be ace.

if they did do a Discworld mmo what would you want it to look like though?

Id like a bit of cartoony cellshaderness going on. reminiscent of the old games

Just to dig up my own old thread, I actually got a reply from Raymond E Feist himself :eek:

MMORPG. Like films and TV, game companies are always asking questions and making suggestions. I can never talk about on-going negotiations, so until you hear a formal announcement on anything relating to an on-line game, assume that I'm yakin' with a lot of different people and that at any time, anything is possible. We talked a lot of companies, for example, before making our first deal with Dynamix for Betrayal at Krondor, and the same held true before we cut a deal with 7th Level for Return. It was really a business fluke that had both companies end up with Sierra when the dust settled. Just like we waited a long time before cutting a comic book deal, and now Marvel/Dabel Brothers are just killing with their adaptation. Sales are far exceeding expectations and we hope to see this relationship go on for a very long time.

Best, R.E.F.

Yeah! My first thought too. Proper gritty cyberpunk in a dirty, rainy, nuclear cloud covered city.

Bring me seedy neonlit strip clubs, dark alleys with blood stained surgeons who sell body enhancements, constant rain and rats, noodle bars, flying advertisement video screens, etc.

Actually that sounds a bit like Rochdale.

hehe, you just described Neocron - if they brought the engine/graphics up to date and did a bit more work on the overall playability (and a massive marketing campaign to get mroe subscribers :p ) it could be a major competitor for WoW

Really?

I might give their 10 day trial a go - I think I tried Neocron 2 before, but I chickened out when it asked me for my credit card details, so I never actually got to see the game world.

I heard it was devoid of players too...
