I think you need to clear up which breathing your talking about in the mp3.

There's one that's fast and sounds like an animal sniffing around, or maybe just you fiddling with whatever you're recording with, and then some heavier breathing that starts about half way through.

Its the heavier breathing you need to listen for. The sniffing/clicking noise was the mic moving

Thread summary.

Stovies finds a strange noise from the bottom of the garden one night. Another night, he hears the same thing. He starts to wonder what it is. Then after much thinking, he buys a new 4 billion candle powered torch. Sends his mum back home from looking after the kids one night. Plucks up the courage to investigate. Goes into the woods to hear the noise from behind him, he legs it into the house and gets a beer. Now hes thinking what his next plan would be.

I went into the woods at a different point which may have scared it off.
