What is the daily mail reader stereotype?

Good for her, live and let live.
It's only a newspaper, no point being disdainful about it.

Of course there is. It's full of racist nonsense and is in no way the broadsheet it pretends to be.

As I said in good humour, but disdainful all the same only like a cheeky grandson can be - or get away with. It comes with the territory of the family, we're all quite political in one way or another. Apart from gran the floating voter, who is under Tory misrule starting to warm to independence. A few years ago it was a pretty strong no. Granny is starting to see the light by her own accord! :D

Just read the local paper. That way, you can't be judged for buying the wrong one.

If you're a builder.. Ignore this and buy the daily star. They have boobies.

If you don't buy newspapers or analyse the news daily any more how do you know the Daily Mail is full of racist nonsense?
Is it just from other people's opinions?

From reading them. Just because I no longer buy them does not mean I do not have access to them. I use them regularly in my duties, and can also find them recreationally at work. There's also been a significant amount of the articles posted here, racially charged also.

Sufficient enough for your inquisitiveness ?

I read opinion and news, thus I analyse, however I don't do it politically any longer. For my own consumption only. I do have a habit of collecting papers on important events, that started with 9/11. Most others are political, except for London/Glasgow bombings etc. Got a small box now.

One of my football friends.

Balding, ginger, angry football fan, hates foreigners, is a police officer but ok in small amounts.

Oh I see, you're a reader & analyser of the Daily Mail then.

Unless you sit and chew at it.... yes?

Not avidly yet often enough to see the clear and obvious undercurrents and overtones, but often enough over the last 10-15 years to come to my conclusions.? Yes.

I find the political statements to be more extreme in the columns, and the racial issues to be by cherrypicking examples through articles. Often long articles about foreigners in some sense. Very touchy paper when it comes to immigration, health, and Johnny Foreigner. Also quite wide spectrum too, it isn't all that by any means. But it is, and rightly so, tarred with a brush as a whole because it is confortable in spraying its bias so obviously.

I'm not the only one to have noticed, and dismisssed it for as such, it is a paper that regards me as a rotten sporran dangler after all, but alas if you read it and I've upset you I'd get over it to be honest. It's just someone else with a different opinion at the end of the day.

Live and let live, as you so rightly quoted.

I don't read any papers anymore, I can't stand their biased slant.
Did you not see the same amount of fabrication, twisting and leading in every daily you used to read?

No, not on the aforementioned issues. All papers have their bias, some are better than others. The DM is not very good in my opinion.

It's typically bashed on by the "highly intellectual" and then used in their posts with the disclaimer "I know it's the Daily Mail but..." ;).

I find it mildly comical that anyone feels the need to pigeon hole anyone based on the newspaper they happen to buy. I've been known to buy the Sun in the past for the football. Doesn't make me an axe murderer, moron or polically alligned one way or the other.

I just wanted to read about the football.
