Hes saying that, since the 9800GX2 is just two 8800GTS' strapped together, its logical it will cost about the same as two 8800GTS'.

It does, and that's not a bad thing because if you REALLY wanted SLi GTS' then this would be a much better solution than two cards at exactly the same price.

The 9800GTX will be a single GPU solution and i imagine it will cost around £350-400 just like the 8800GTX did.

The GX2 is two card stuck together that's why he's saying it will be double the price of the GTS.

You'd think, but the PCB design and cooler design will be more complicated, plus you have an integrated SLi bridge and chip, that all pushes the price up.

On a more serious note, I could see nvidia trying to sell this at a silly price, they've got brand power on their side with the less knowledgeable seeing nvidia's cards as the must have regardless of its true specs (I know of some one who thinks 8600s are faster than 2900s/3800s because "8600" is a bigger number). I just hope ATi do themselves a favor and price the 3870X2 well, I suppose realistically they shouldn't (or couldn't really justify to consumers) sell it for MORE than 2x the price of 2 3870s as I'd say that would be defeating the object, plus it's technically more on less silicon being all on one board so it should in theory cost less to make than 2 3870s. Unless I'm totally wrong on PCB/chip production costs.

dunt see *** the problem is, its not like the dual cards or top of range cards have been cheap as of late is it. Its going to be about the same as GTX and ultra were when launched, possibly a bit more. Hardly shocking. You need it you buy it. You stupid you buy it. One or other. Im fairly sure most of you, like me are currently on cards performing lower than a GTX, so this does not really affect us. ALthough its nice to see GTXs will once again be coming down in price, Im becoming tempted to purchase one to replace my 320 8800, as its more than enough performance for me, nevermind these SLI things, which may not turn out to be that great.

I was expecting £350 no high. Guess the 3870X2 could be much better if is £250, but really we all know even the 3870X2 is going to be 300+ :\. If it is then new bicycle for me

The Ultra was not £350 though when it came out, it was more like £429+ as the GTX's were around £375.

the 3870x2 will not be £250, not even close to be honest. its not simply 2 cars put together, its a dual core gpu, 2 cores on one pcb, not the 7950gx2 card.

you will pay a lot for the process of manufacture for the card, as well as the fact as a single 3870 retails for about £155.

also, it will be their new top end, if it competes well against nvidias top end, then they can price it as they used to price their previous top end cards like the x1950xtx.

like you said. 300+, would be lucky if it was on the lower end of £300 as well.
