Aside from the character of the people living there.

This is the point, if Cornwall is a **** hole and then it must be the fault of the inhabitants. All the bad outcomes in Cornwall must be a result of the population being lazy and stupid?

Maybe Wesmimo has me on mute and maybe they are not quite smart enough to consider that geography might be a key factor hence the bolded statement?

What's more relevant to the thread is how different groups of people in the same geographical areas ostensibly with the same opportunities available end up with such different outcomes.

Of course they're not.

I'm not sure what your point is.

The causes of x, y, z subset of the population performing differently are many and varied, depending on the subset/group you are looking at.

The causes of Cornish sub-optimal outcomes are probably very different from the causes of BAME sub-optimal outcomes.

I'm not sure anyone is looking at a scapegoat for Cornwall's problems... maybe I should blame the French?

On the other hand, white Brits very much *are* being made a scapegoat for sub-optimal outcomes amongst certain groups. The idea being that "white privilege" is preventing other groups from succeeding proportionally to their merit.

Or "Empire", or something equally spurious.

equally I have noticed positive discrimination now to super extreme levels, where white people are being under represented in adverts. Instead if the expected 9/1 ratio we are now seeing an inverse if 1/4 with white women being removed completely in this example! And white women are the majority of white people no?

The problem some of us have is that the PC agenda is so in-your-face, and ever-present.

Listen, I have no problem with a scene depicting one white guy and four black girls. But it's hard not to be somewhat irked by that ever-present media agenda. And to start seeing evidence of that agenda all over the place.

The same agenda which means I'm finding Gardener's World more and more difficult to watch. They've gone down a slightly different route, where in every episode now they're "showcasing" gardeners with some fairly horrific disabilities. Lots of episodes with autistic gardeners. Two episodes already this season featuring a girl with no arms.

It's this constant, in-your-face agenda that grates. I just want to watch Monty Don or one of the other presenters in his garden talking about plants.

Instead now the PC agenda means I have to watch "brave" gardeners battling their own disabilities. I'm sure you'll say that's just what I need - to be exposed to such things. Personally I find it killing my enjoyment of the programme.

Also they introduced the woman with no arms as someone who is "differently able". It's like we're all being brainwashed in this new era.

Imagine the advert was only white women. Im sure blm wouldn't be happy. This is 100% a corporate knee jerk reaction.

But because white women are removed, i am getting subjected to abuse for just pointing it out.

I used to really like Lewis Hamilton, support him and admire what he has achieved. Not because he is black. But because he was the British guy who achieved so many wins. But with his recent preaching to me about my privilidge, guilt tripping me to save the environment and telling me I shouldn't eat meat, all from the comfort of his speedboat after flying on his private jet to speed around a race track, I can't stand the guy. If he's the ambassador for Mercedes then I don't want one thank you very much.

I should probably say he's "black", as what does that even mean these days? If you have three white grandparents and one black grandparent you're apparently "black", but tbh for me it's becoming a bit meaningless as we all naturally blend together.
