What is white privilege?

I used to really like Lewis Hamilton, support him and admire what he has achieved. Not because he is black. But because he was the British guy who achieved so many wins. But with his recent preaching to me about my privilidge, guilt tripping me to save the environment and telling me I shouldn't eat meat, all from the comfort of his speedboat after flying on his private jet to speed around a race track, I can't stand the guy. If he's the ambassador for Mercedes then I don't want one thank you very much.

Oh Lewis, with all his wealth in off shore accounts, an absolute pillar of moral standing and philanthropy.

He drives for Mercedes who used slave labour in ww2 and built hitlers car.

Yet he's never mentioned that.

. . . But [Hamilton is] a massive hypocrite. . . .
On what basis do you suggest that Hamilton is a massive hypocrite?

Get over it pal, you are just envious of the incredible success Hamilton has achieved, despite his being a Person of Colour in a business that doesn't appear to have many people of colour working very prominently in it

Funnily enough, a few very high profile people in prominent positions just occasionally have the guts to stand up and express their beliefs despite the hostility that you and others express.

GERONIMO, we have inevitably reached Godwin's Law!

I recently pointed that out on here and people lost their minds over it. Was hilarious. They literally used slave labour to support the war effort.

Yet we're tearing down of heroes from 100s of years ago, but no one thinks about Mercedes, Hugo Boss etc.

Id love to see certain groups in Britain give up their Mercedes or BMW lol!

You stick to buying British manufactured goods and eating British grown foods mate - then I will admire you as a hero ;)

I can't help but think that a lot of people in here are thinking that white privilege is very clear cut, it would be worth your time to read up on it, if you're willing to put the work in. I'm reading 'Slay in your lane' at the moment, which whilst a terrible title does touch a lot on the small things that build up to make life harder for black people, and in particular black women.. For example where less black students being accepted to higher level universities, where whilst there are numerous reasons for this, one such is that teachers typically predict lower grades for black pupils which means they are less likely to get offers into 'better' universities.

If you actually want to learn about all this rather than just spouting tripe on the internet then maybe start by buying a book which looks at the alternate view point.

if you aren't willing to do that then you're a lost cause unfortunately.

How do you hold a company accountable for what happened 80 years ago? Who, employed by that company, should face justice? Sounds to me like a witch hunt for the sake of finding something to burn and i find that a bit bizarre. Why don't we just blame every citizen of Germany for the war? it amounts to the same thing... And that is not at all the same as denouncing public figures who had the fingers in the slave trade personally.

That's what blm are doing to us, asking us to apologise for the slave trade of 200 years ago.

Because that company exists today due to its support for the Nazi regime and its use of slave labour. If it's so important to these people where's the boycott?

And that's a really crap reason. There are entire family lines who exist purely because the NAZIs raped and pillaged. You want to go after them too?

We shouldn't respect any historic figures who dealt in the slave trade, I agree with that. It's shameful. But, we also shouldn't go after people who had nothing at all to do with the actions taken by their relatives generations ago. And there's even less logic in going after a company for those reasons.

None of those statues are there because of them being slave traders, they're there for their other achievements.
The statues are for like, winning ww2 (Churchill)

Or uk heroes who happened to use slaves but weren't heroes FOR using slaves..

WHAT?!

WHAT???
