What is your favourite Fallout game?

Fallout 1: Will always hold a special place in my heart, completed it several times using different builds.

Fallout 2: Only completed it the once, not sure why. I know it's meant to be the bigger/better version of no.1, but it just didn't grab me.

Fallout 3: Now this would have to be my favourite, again, completed several times, my favourite would have to be doing a Unarmed/Sneak build. Nothing like 1 shotting Deathclaws. Never played any of the DLC though which I regret, but it's a bit too old for me to return to.

Fallout New Vegas: I finally completed it last year, after owning it since launch, I liked the gameplay changes, but I got bored with the story, to the point that when I finally reached Vegas, I rushed through the story to finish it.

Fallout 4: Got a lot of flak, but I quite enjoyed it, especially the gunplay changes. Keep meaning to go back and try an Unarmed/Sneak build.

I have only played FO3, NV and FO4. Out of those it would be between 3 and NV as I enjoyed both a lot. NV would be a clear winner if it wasn't such a mess. No matter what guide I follow or what mods I try, it just crashes to the point I have to restart my PC, every 10-20 mins or so and usually as I'm going through a door. It makes me have to constantly worry if it's going to crash and save spam constantly, which really ruined the experience for me. I tried to play without mods, but the movement speed is horrifically bad, especially with so much empty desert you need to run through to get to somewhere interesting.

FO4 I didn't like the story much, but I did still enjoy the gameplay, until I got to the point where I was OP and then it just got boring. The mods were the saving grace for that game, which helped me clock up 185 hours in the game.

Yeah, I had a terrible time with NV, depsite downloading a load of mods/fixes to get around instability.
Quick save was my best friend.

This thread inspired me to finally install New Vegas, after owning it near release. I think I'd played through all the Fallout 3 DLCs just before getting it and thought I'd leave it a bit. Turns out I left it over eight years!

It looks pretty damn ugly by today's standards, even with a load of texture mods installed. I'm heartily enjoying it, though, even if it has started becoming rather crashy after a being very well-behaved for the first 20 hours or so.

Such a shame '76 doesn't look at all enticing. I'd love more Fallout games in the vein of 3 or New Vegas.

Edit: to be more on -topic, I should say my favourite would be a toss-up between 3 and New Vegas (though I'm only level 24 in NV at the moment so that's still a judgement that's forming). I played 2 a long while after release, and whilst I could see lots of good points in it, I missed the point at which it was a landmark release and the control system was far too cumbersome for me to feel comfortable with (also, you missed, you missed, you missed... come on already!).

Fallout 3 remains my favourite. IIRC I used MMM (Marts Mutant Mod) and many others to populate and mod the game.
Fun times altho Skyrim must all hold the title for the most hours spent installing mods, and probably less playing it..!
Never really cared as much for anything else that followed. I've only got a few hours credited to FO4 in play time.

New Vegas by a very very long way. Superior to the other 3d games in every way other than the setting of DC in FO3 was maybe better. Fallout 2 second best.

Far more Intersting story, better characters much better quests, more complex, intricate systems in play and Obsidian not only writes some of the best dialogue, but does by far the best dialogue options in gaming.
The way it is most superior though is in role-playing. I've not seen it done better. Lots of different skills to make your build unique that affect all areas of gameplay from combat to dialogue, Intersting factions to join and side with, awesome dialogue as I mentioned...You can basically play the game as any type of character from violent nutcase to hippy pacifist and the game will have dialogue options for you to choose.

Best RPG ever made. I wish Obsidian could have another crack at Fallout!
