What mail client do you use?

Outlook 2003. Quick and does the job. Everything is filtered via GMail first, so don't get any spam through.

Work - Outlook 2007
Home - gmail, till I can get access to one profile at home and work within outlook with both email accounts then I'll stick rss feeds and everything in Outlook 2007.

I prefer Outlook 2007 but it is not very stable. I thought Outlook 2003 was unstable as well so it's neither better or worse. Exchange is a nice improvement though, I like that sending an e-mail to another Exchange user is more like messaging. I'm simple like that and easily pleased.

"Get to grips"?

What can't you understand about it? It's possibly the best way ever to look at email replies! It was one of those "why hasn't it always been like this" moments when i first used it! Its fantastic!

Well, number one because people always seem to hit reply and not bother changing the subject, even if the subject matter is completely different. Then my brain thinks in terms of time, so arranging by date or by sender is perfectly suitable for me to find what i want.

Another gripe is that I like to have control. especially over my email, so its off the server and onto my own disks. and my own backups. once you switch to opera, the options to export it to any other program should you ever wish to when you get disenchanted with opera, is a bit tricky...

Outlook 2007 with work Exchange at home, work and laptop
Windows Mobile 6.1 with push to said exchange server

Outlook 2007 is flawless for me, and I have a several GB PST.

Email software

Depends what you want from your email program.

For me it's Thunderbird every time at work and home. I have a lot of email accounts (I'm a web Developer) to check but I don't need a built in calender and contact list. Thunderbird can do both but Outlook does it better if you do.

Gmail is brilliant. You can even check email sent to other email addresses (non-gmail) and now you can even reply from those email addresses. It's got huge storage space, available everywhere, IMAP and it's free. I just don't like having to have a browser tab let alone running a browser at all just to check emails but that's just me. For others it suits just fine.

I also have a Linux box so again, Thunderbird is the program of choice for me but in that situation that's more to do with familiarity. It works perfectly for me so I haven't tried the other Linux based programs.

I also have a bit of a hatred of M$ which biases my opinion a bit.

For me, I can't think of single thing Thunderbird does anything other than excellently.

I got fed up of Windows Mail and Outlook being annoying and other clients being crap, plus I wanted an easy way to backup my mail. So I've recently started using Google Apps on all my domains. It is very easy to use, can be accessed anywhere and has a bunch of great addons which improve it even futher, like Better Gmail 2 for Firefox. Another advantage is my email doesn't take up any space and bandwidth on my hosting! It's better than any stand alone client I've used and light years ahead of any other webmail. Don't know why I didn't use it sooner. :)

Used Outlook 2003 at work and home for a couple of years, upgraded to vista at home and found a strange bug where outlook would work fine but always prompt an error message on closing.

Recently changed to using thunderbird and it seems to suit my needs fine.

I have just started to use Windows Live Mail - for the desktop, the successor to Windows Mail / Outlook Express.

I have had to a bit of work though to get it to install on my Win XP64, as it does not want to install be default.
