What makes you want to be a part of the forums?

Been here since the beginning, re signed up post nuke a bit later than others though.

I don't really post that much these days and as I have got older I don't feel the need to debate and argue over minor details anymore.

I still enjoy reading and contributing but find I often start writing a post and
 
This place is informative, interesting and what makes it so very special is the great community we have here.
 
The diversity of the sub sections makes this place great, it's not just about PC's as there are so many other topics covered too. I come here for film reviews, book recommendations, talk about gaming etc etc. This combined with what is a great community keeps me coming back.
 
One of the more friendlier forums around these here parts :D It also hits that sweet spot of having recognisable names / friendly users while still remaining busy. Some forums lose their personality and get really strict when they get too big.

Here its busy enough to remain interesting all day while still retaining a personal feel of a smaller forum with rules that are more or less, in my opinion, fair enough :)

Its no coincidence I've become active here again, its a nice place to reside :)
 
This place has many things going for it compared to the wider internet.

No upvoting systems of any kind.
These inevitably hide opinions and form communities into narrow cliches of opinion. They may be necessary for huge forums such as some subreddits, but they generally just turn places into a circle jerk.

Minimal layout and personalisation.
Its clean and easy to read, and the minimal amounts of personalisation means that people focus more of what is actually being discussed, instead of the posters name and decade old sparkly gif avatars

Great mod team.
Not too tough, not too liberal. Quick to respond and up for banter.

Generally high quality of English, at least compared to the rest of the web

Knowledgeable community about many subjects.
