What "man jobs" have you done today?

I'm no electrician but took my time. I replaced the aged, cracked junction box on the house where the garage feed leaves the house and goes to garage. I then fitted a very nice looking LED IP65 flood light outside so I can light up the garden when the dogs go out. Feeling quite pleased with myself!

Cleared out a load of crap, filled up half of a 6 yard skip!

Finished the relining of the veggie filtering the pond, now cut to size, new wood planks and plants back in.

Shattered after last night's BBQ & drinks!

Tided up the inside of the shed to make space for the garden furniture over the winter :)

Cleaned cement from the back of these slabs, was going to reuse them for a patio after taking up the decking, but that's for another thread.

I'd still be there now if it wasn't for an SDS drill + chisel.

I have a Pax wardrobe to build too at some point.

Today? Not a great deal, tidied, washed, cleaned. Started to strip the pain off some old Victorian style door handles which the previous owners decided to paint white. Many many times...

Well we finished it anyway! Good quality and I'm pleased with the result. Will take a picture tomorrow.

Took us a while but it's not actually too difficult. Glad we chose baskets over drawers. They were a doddle to put in
. I hate making drawers.

Hardest part was drilling into our bricks. Unbelievably hard. Damn old house.

Doing up my mum's place atm. All new LVP flooring, new carpet in the bedrooms and currently installing the skirtingboards. Actually had someone else do the tile / carpet removal and lay the LVP. I was going to do it all, but its juts too big of a job to do on my tod. Will post pics once its all done. Here's some in progress But i'm kinda looking forward to it being done. Its my mum she's old (74), so i said i'll do it, after she saw what a great job i did at my place installing hardwood flooring throughout the entire upstairs and staircase. .. She's currently in France til Nov, so the house is empty, but just everything takes so much damn time. The dust, the cleaning, the cutting of the baseboards, the running up and down the stairs a thousand times. I'll just be glad when its all over, so i can get back to doing my own crap !

Realised the subfloor was a mess once the carpet came up and not level at all :(

What did you do about the uneven floor?

Productive day for me.. I fitted a new waterproof junction box in the shed to replace the dodgy switch box the previous owner had fitted that had got damp inside and shorted out causing the pond pump and filter not to work. I washed, polished and waxed both the cars, 4 hours of hard work but they look amazingly shiny now! Then I serviced the lawn mower, new oil, filter, plug, diaphragm, stripped and cleaned it all and it runs like a dream, just annoyed the new blade didn't turn up in time for me cutting the grass today. Unfortunately I didn't get round to neatening up the network cables in the loft and patching them in properly so it still looks a mess of cables up there.

Last few weekends I've been replacing the old decking in the back garden.

11 years old and as you can see it's rotten, I took the top off and found it was mainly due to the fella that built it originally mounting it directly on soil in places.

Area cleared and then afterwards I also proceeded to dig out all the high spots that could touch the new decking.

New concrete mounts in place and weed control layer down. Initial part of the main frame in place.

Outer frames assembled and in place, inner batons for the edging pieces being fitted.

Top going down, each plank being stained before fitting

Lights fitted

After laying the rest of the top I built the frame to connect the main deck to the side gate, dug out and fitted some drainage under the outdoor tap.

Then today I just finished off by layering the decking on the surrounding lower step.

I think about 200+ screws used on the frame and 600 screws for the actual decking. All done just in time for winter! :p
