What "man jobs" have you done today?

Most important job of day - Moving barrow full of logs from main store to store by back door.

They did go in after I filled indoor bins - and fire is lit. :D

Replaced a radiator thermostat valve this morning and the proper job today was to create light in the loft by cutting into one of the upstairs lights from within the loft and running a new light and switch from it. Took around 2 hours due to all the crimping and getting the wires to sit in the "chocolate boxes" but I'm pleased with the result and beats having to use a torch whenever we had to go into the loft!

If you're not already them have a look at Wago connectors as they are excellent and very compact. For junction boxes I just use whatever empty enclosure is suitable for the amount of cables/size/IP rating etc (various plastic ones from Screwfix usually).

The newest 221 variant works with solid, stranded and fine stranded conductors so just a few of each conductor count covers most needs.

Ahhhh I was looking for these but couldn't find them in Wickes earlier, should've made the effort to find somewhere as it would've been much quicker!

Stripped the kitchen and almost finished everything. Will be plumbing in the washing machine tonight and then just needs some shelving put up. Done, until the building work commences!

Fitted two new lights to the existing circuit in the kitchen and lounge.. woman happy :D

LED lighting in the lounge is nice.. until the LEDs blow :D ("Alani Chrome Plated Ceiling Light" from B&Q)

Put up some heavyweight shelves. With side batons and centre support in an alcove of the office. 450m deep and just under a meter wide.

Had to router cut them down as it's the most accurate without having a saw table. I have a band saw but that's probably going to get overloaded with the depth.

Oh and cleaned out the garage enough to actually do the work.

Saturday I excused myself from a kid's party and made a coat rack for my sister-in-law's birthday gift. It's a smaller version of one I made for our hallway last year.

Cut, sanded & pilot holes drilled

Two coats of primer and the hardware fitted. She'll paint it a final colour herself.

Yesterday I altered the wiring for the under cupboard LED lights. Depending where you stood you could see the plug and wiring on top of the cupboards which I didn't like.

30 minutes and some Wago connectors have sorted it.

On the subject of LED lights in the kitchen, I've ordered 4 x 5m of LED string lights to go on top of the kitchen cupboards. I was going to buy the same stuff that is under the cupboads but that'd cost about £160.

I ordered from Bang Good for less than £20 including delivery. They should look fairly similar to the existing lights (they're all the same colour temperature) but it they end up looking rubbish I'm only £20 out of pocket.

The wiring will need to be made up, I've ordered cables that connect into the transformers for the existing lights so with a bit of soldering it should work fine.

Bought a coat rack for under the stairs as the one on the back of the door to the under stairs was getting a bit full.

Used the fixing that came with it and they were absolute garbage. Ended up just no nails'ing it to the wall as I didnt have any spare fixings in the house and couldnt be bothered going out for some!!!!

In my old house the only obvious place for coat hooks was underneath the consumer unit and on the other side of the wall where the electricity meter was so I didn't fancy drilling into that wall.

I used No Nails and the coat hooks were still firmly attached to the wall when I sold the house, some 11 years after installing it.

Yeh seems to be doing the trick. Did it yesterday morning and was pretty solid when i checked it before going to bed last night. Will transfer some coats etc over to it when I get in from work!
