What "man jobs" have you done today?

Got another gang of groundworkers to finish up the main foundation. No underpinning, dug it properly this time. Building control more than happy. 8 cubic metres of concrete poured in 20 minutes after days if work :p

Do your LED lights still work? I bought a set after I saw your photos. Unfortunately one has stopped working. After much moaning to Amazon they finally agreed to a refund without me having to pay to send them back. Not sure if I should get another set. When they worked they put out a nice lot of light.

Mine still work fine the ones out the front dont get as much light as the rear ones so dont last as long as i would like but still work fine

Just installed Hive Active Heating DIY. Chuffed with that, need to do it DIY as I rent and want to take it with me between houses. £86 and an hour or so of head scratching then rewiring, sorted!

Put SLC down for bathroom tiling today. Really wasn't looking forward to this job owing to the risks. Most notably 60kg of SLC and 10 litres of water ending up in the kitchen below....

Spent plenty of time time sealing up and placing dams for the ply subfloor. Old cardboard box worked as a chimney like dam for the shower trap cutout. Threw on a primer and let it all cure for a day.

Mixed three separate 30 litre buckets with a 20kg bag in each. Was going to use my SDS drill to mix it but my Jacobs chuck wasn't big enough, doh! Had to use my cordless and almost ran out of battery!

Used a small jug to fill corners and the biggest depressions first with small amount of troweling to work it into the edges. Then just poured out a bucket.

Nothing has leaked into the ground floor ceiling and it's drying up! Slightly cooler weather is increasing that time but it also meant I had a bigger open window.

Painted the kitchen, put a couple pictures up, put some led strips around my tv in the living room (under orders of the wife) now chilling with a beer watching the F1

have installed some solar security lights two out front and two on the side of the house. for solar they are pretty bright and they have built in PIRs so very handy for me since i have no street lighting at my house

Are these the MPOW Solar Lights that are available on Amazon? I'm after some myself and the reviews seem good if they can be trusted.

Whilst waiting for the doors to arrive earlier in the week I epoxied and clamped together a couple of furniture boards from B and Q. Made a frame, mounted it to the wall and trimmed the boards down to fit. Sanded and finished with briwax (Tudor oak).
Have a couple of holes to drill for power cables and will be making two shelves to go above the wall mounted monitor.
Went with the darker oak wax as a contrast to the rest of the white eggshell in the dining/ living room.

Started tanking the shower and sink area. Going to be the wettest areas so for the sake of 40 quid was worth doing.

Strips are super easy to put on, self adhesive. The tanking membrane is like brushing peanut butter though!

Serious work going on in that shower area, looks great. I'm sure water will be running scared :p

We've used the Impey wet room system and tanking membrane a few times and highly recommend it. Easy enough to lay out and install.

Took washing out of the machine and hung it up while wife has gone to Sainsburys to get a pack of 5 Jam Dognuts - and some wine for dinner. I have to wonder if she has lost her way - been gone 3 hrs. - it doesn't take that long to walk around the shops - Shirley

Was planning on using carpet cleaner to bring the carpet on the stairs back a bit. I then decided it looks guff and doubted the carpet would come up that well anyway, it's seen some abuse. I inspected the timber below on one step to see what I was dealing with and as expected found a varnished mess. Each step had between 30 and 50 carpet staples and nails in also. Committed to it and had it all off, removed all the staples/nails and then stripped the wood back with a belt sander. Brass slotted screws came up nicely with the wire brush, might metal polish them afterwards also. I am undecided whether to treat/varnish the timber and leave like that or paint. Whatever I do I need to work out something which is not going to be a slippery death trap though!

So the conservatory flooring is warping pretty badly it seems the installer hadnt left a big enough expansion gap at the edges so there are several pinch points causing the boards to raise about 5-8cm. Currently in the process of ripping the floor out, checking the insulation isnt damp and all.check the damp proof is doing its job. Got some regular p5 chipboard flooring on order already so that should go down fairly easily once it arrives. also what is peoples opinions on replacing the current insulation with celotex insulation think it has a far better R value

I noticed whislt taking the rubbish out last night that the end piece of guttering on the kitchen extension was dropping down so I got the ladders out this morning. There was a huge amount of moss in there and it had become unclipped so that's an easy one sorted.

Noticed that I'd lost or at least had intermittent sound in the right can of my AKG-712s after they took a knock.

Disassembled to find one of the solder joints was broken, a quick bit of resoldering and good as new.
