What "man jobs" have you done today?

Had this delivered yesterday

Set up the log splitter this morning

By three this afternoon Got this pile of split logs -the delivered ones were way too big. - This is only about 1/2 of the pile. and it's that high inside and I have only just thrown them in.
I would recommend anyone to get a splitter it's way more easy than a axe/maul.

This is the foreman giving me a "Why have you stopped working" look

I don't know why the log man thought I had a commercial burner. -Got to get chainsaw out and cut these and more on the pile in half.

Tomorrow will be a stacking day. - I am not sure if this lot will fit in but I have room in another two stores.
Never ever get rid of your bath for a large walk in shower -I really need a soak in bath now -my back is stiff.

Those splitters are great once you get them up high enough so that you’re not bending over all the time. I have a couple of breeze blockers I stand mine on so that split logs drop out of the way. Just remember your safety glasses for when you have a log grenade on you.

I made that stand for the other log splitter I had but it was crap but this one could do with being another three inches higher - Had one grenade.

Cut 4 railway sleepers to widen a step to accommodate a hit tub delivery next week.

Pressure washed and bleached the patio and house walls.

Moved some 1/2 meter cube plant pots, not light!

8 Years on... bought the paint for this last summer! You don't realise how bad doors & frames get until you tart them back up :D

Second coat in a few days (to cover the patches at the bottom I forgot to go over and tidy up the inside edge.

Pointed up the gaps between the wooden border for the stones that i added above and the paving.

It seems i've done a reasonable job, so next summer i might redo the crap job we had done on the patio last year if it continues to crumble out.

Back in November noticed bad looking mould on bottom of sash window. Got round to taking it out coupla weeks ago and was holding water in behind paint, a lot of wet, dug it all out and used wet rot wood hardener, filled, sanded and repainted. Took a while.

@Kol Yeah relatively.

There's some really good youtube videos I recently found, - 7 in this series - https://youtu.be/h5fhQstnHQE

I also switched from previously using water based to oil based paint and undercoat, more faff with oil but the result is so much better.

Also for putty i can't be waiting a month for linseed to form a surface good to paint on so used Geocel Top Gun glazing putty - comes in a gun tube and can paint over in half a day. Expensive and a pain to apply compared to traditional putty but for me worth the trade off.
I replaced the parting bead with a plastic one with compression fins for draughts (again a pain to fit stanley knife and a hammer sorted it out) and also staff beads with pre-inserted brush pile from Mighton.

All in all it took a while but this was mainly due to waiting for the paint to dry and having to order some 2 part wood filler.

Mate, thanks for this. I'll take a look as the putty definitely needs sorting, a cat was trying to claw her way in to see mine and she's peeled a load back so need to get to it before the weather turns, I broke a rope on one the other day so it's looking a bit tatty so best to get it all seen to. Thought I might as well take them out, sand down, give them a thorough going over.

Finished off painting the inside of my big garden gates today, so just the outsides to do now, which will be tomorrow.

Got my fence to spray as well, at some point. :p

I was about to say that is not the best paint job then I scrolled down to the 2nd pic - good work!! Love the reflection

:p

Did you just brush paint it? What paint did you use?

Yeah, just used a Harris set from Screwfix. I keyed the original finished pretty roughly, used 60 or 100 grit cheap AF sandpaper to just help adherence slightly. Wiped it down to remove any dust and residue and then one coat of Leyland Trade High Gloss Paint Black absolutely loads left from a 750ml / £10 tin.

You can be pretty liberal with the paint though I'd say to try and apply it evenly as it will run as it starts to dry. Something in it, perhaps whatever makes it ultra glossy almost makes it behave like a self levelling screed and it gives quite a good finish without much effort.

That door isn't perfect it has a few wavy bits and ding's being a metal backed timber frame but it came up very well.

ok watched half so far, it’s great. I’ve way more confidence to do mine now. Going to spend ages on the Mighton website now. So much I can buy!

Got a sail shade up in the garden, over the back windows/double doors, makes such a difference on the back room now that’s south facing, much cooler.

also repaired the back gate post, adjusted the level of the locks and latch, all works with little effort now.

mostly yesterday but ,this is a custom oak archway ,joined with copper ,made with old yurt arches ,reclaimed copper ,my ex made in her workshop we fixed in yesterday
dont tend to buy much ,just reclaimed or freecycle then restore
