What "man jobs" have you done today?

Drayton TRV4 valves are considered the best available.

I got eight of them off Freecycle a few months back.:)

Just been looking at getting some of these from ebay. What does 'reverse flow' mean? I noticed it said this on the box in the picture.

You can install then on the flow or return of the system, with the head either vertical or horizontal.

Usually you will find most heating systems have the valves are on the flow side.

Changed some pipe screw fittings from 15mm to 22mm, then fitted a new water softener. Nothing major apart from not taking enough time to use washers in every hose resulting in lots of small leaks that made it all take three times longer than it should have done. Funny really because I was all worried about messing with the actual copper piping when that was the bit that worked first time! (touch wood)

Cleaned the pump in the pond, the waterfall into the pond and the water filter box. Also de-junked the old Wendy house ready for demolition.

Chopped kindling

Took about 1/2 hour to do a sack full which at the butchers is 3 quid. Bad vfm and risk to fingers I'll buy it next time.

Dismantled all the cheap MDF & chipboard bedroom furniture we have & took it to the tip.
Room will be ready for the new solid light oak furniture to be installed next week after we've finished decorating.

Snap.

Just done two barrow loads and cut up some pallet bases - The 4x4 bit's with bench saw.

So much easier than hand saw.

Chopped down the old sunflowers that were looking a bit sorry for themselves, pulled up the old pumpkin plant too, and lay down some new slate over the garden :) - looks much tidier now!

Our chimney has started leaking again so i now have to go up into the loft and get the insulation away from it so it doesn't soak up too much water :(. Not looking forward to this..

More loft insulation work this week, but could do with some help!

One of our houses is a Victorian mid terrace, it has walls extending to the roof, each wall in the loft has no insulation on it (well someone has hung a thick curtain from one), would it be ok to cut some Kingspan panels to shape and put them on the wall, or would something like thermal foil roll work on brick?

What do you guys think the best bet is, or is doing anything a waste of time?

Today I put down some carpet tiles at the front door as a kind of large door mat. Whole of the width of the hall and 1m out. Makes it easier for people to take shoes off instead of balancing on a small patch.

Put together one of those plastic garden storage boxes last night. So I can remove all the non-manly pots/gardening things out of my Man Cave!

I'm sure you could, I'd be thinking the price of materials and your time just wouldn't be worth it.

Waste of time, should be cold up there anyway if the ceiling is insulated properly

Fitted an interior door, but didn't have my electric planer at home so had to take half an inch off with my hand plane :(.
