What "man jobs" have you done today?

I wouldn't say 'man' jobs, but I've spent a couple of hours ironing. :p As well as 5 shirts, I've actually ironed a double duvet cover. Thought I could get away with folding it to a smallish square and iron it but it doesn't really get rid of the creases so had to open it out as much as I could and do it in sections, spraying water as I go. Fairly tedious and it's quite tiring. But satisfying once done.

Cut a hole in the shed floor and bolted an Oxford Anchor Force ground anchor into the concrete floor underneath.

I hate installing anchors, always such a ball ache.

I've been tiling and fitting this log burner, i pretty much do man jobs daily but this one is in my own home so thought id post it up.. cant wait to start using it, just need to finish bricking it up through the wall and add the rest of the flue on the outside..

i want to make it look something like this in the end, build a wall around it, move the wood burner in the middle, paint the twinwall flue black..

Edit: all the parts are new, my house is a new build so i dont have a chimney, i can only fit twinwall flue to be able to fit a log burner to building regs.

the flue had to go out at an angle like that to go outside, i live in a terraced house, i didnt want to run the flue internally because i'd lose space, the wood burner has to be about 3 foot away from combustables, thats why its situated where it is.. im still in the middle of the job, look better when its all done.

My 18month old just loves to put sticky fingers all over the TV, bang on the screen, and constantly press every single button on the Blu-Ray player, Xbox, Freeview HD box etc etc.

So I spent most of Sunday wall mounting the TV in the alcove next to the fireplace. It's on a cantelever so it pulls out when we want to watch it, and folds away nice and neatly, and most importantly out of reach!

Then went down to the lumber yard, picked up some pine boards, and built some shelves above the TV where all the electricals will now live.

The lower shelf has a cut out in the corner for the cables to go down to the power sockets/aerial/homeplug etc, which is all hidden away in cable trunking.

And a circular hole in the middle for the HDMI leads to go to the TV.

I did make a slight boo boo, in that the hole I cut for HDMI's isn't big enough to alow the TV's plug to fit through to reach the power bar... never even considered how the TV was going to plug in when I made it >_<

But will remedy that by snipping off the TV power plug and refitting a new plug on the end.

Anywho, i'm quite happy how it turned out, just need to get a nice sideboard for under the TV now. But that'll be after Christmas :D

PS - Forgive the wonky terrible phone pics :D The house was like a bombsite and I couldn't find my good camera.

Pics are not working for me?

Flue would look better going vertically up then right angled left surely? I don't think the brick bond tiling pattern on the back wall works really.

i was reading about log burners this weekend (thinking of fitting one to our existing chimney but going to be an arse ache needing liners etc).

the flue shouldnt have any sharp bends to hamper gas speed (max of 45 deg, few bends as possible). cant remember but may have been to do with sufficient exhaust of carbon monoxide.
