I have been redecorating my office the last few days since installing additional network cables for CCTV. I had previously glossed all the woodwork earlier in the year so I did not have that to do, simply light sand of the walls then a coat of paint (same colour).

We attempted to lay some floor tiles, managed a fair few then left the rest for tonight. I've ordered myself a wet tile cutter as I had a manual one which scribes, but it was crap.
Few bits in the mancave
New lamp / shade wired in and fitted
Swapped the old white plastic lightswitch for a brushed metal one
And (temporarily) sorted out the cable rat's nest

Installed a length of cable basket
Dropped in the 12 gang PDU
And tidied the cables up
I'm getting new flooring (hopefully / lockdown permitting) new flooring in here in the next few weeks so will all be coming out so will do a proper re-routing / tidying job then and may even install a privacy panel, but you can't really see it during normal use

Well hidden. My desk has a vanity panel which I screw a few hooks on to as well as a surge protector. It makes moving the desk very easy by way of just removing the mains outlet and network cable the whole desk with all the wiring can be moved.
I will assume you will be sorting out the wall around light switch at some point @{SAS}TB. That sort of stuff really annoys me. I've been slowly getting around to doing all my plug sockets and light switches.

Thanks and yeah, will go back and touch that up next time we have the decorating stuff out. Just took the opportunity to swap the switch when wiring in the lamp

We had a loft conversion last year and when the new joists were fitted over the kitchen it knocked a lot of the (very old and ugly) light fittings out so bought some recessed LED fittings as a temporary measure until the kitchen is extended and we get the whole thing re-plumbed and re-wired
Yes, I know they ain't straight and yes I've patched the old holes with masking tape and will paint over them . It's a quick and dirty temporary solution (honest)

We had a loft conversion last year and when the new joists were fitted over the kitchen it knocked a lot of the (very old and ugly) light fittings out so bought some recessed LED fittings as a temporary measure until the kitchen is extended and we get the whole thing re-plumbed and re-wired

It does look smart as well, were you old lights some massive par37's as that's what we have I'm out kitchen, but it's an artexed ceiling so not sure if it would need fully skimming (I suspect so).

Not sure what they are (can check as there are actually some spares in the garage the former owner left) but they're massive (about 25cm across) and about 15cm deep into the ceiling void
And, well, they're gold !
Was in two minds to go with a white or chrome surround on the LEDs but wanted to keep it clean and Screwfix had these in for £70 odd for 20 so bargain !
As for your artex I'd try core drilling for a fitting and see how you go, should be ok but I'd drill all the holes before a reskim anyway

On Saturday I finally got around to replacing the flourcescent tube light fittings in the wardrobe and understairs cupboard with LED fittings. I also sorted a couple of bodges by the previous owner who was a professional electrician.
There was a TV signal booster in the waredrobe that was connected to the supply side of a switched fused connection unit so the only current limiting device for that booster was the MCB - that's a 16A MCB as it's spurred off the circuit for the immersion heater. I've removed the signal booster as we don't use it.

And the ceiling after a quick roller of paint over the masking tape
I'll give the whole ceiling another coat when o do the four other lights in the other half of the kitchen but happy with how it's turned out

Started the lounge decorating beginning with the feature wall using dulux sapphire salute... My gosh it's thick paint. Couldn't even get it out the tin in to the tray it was like thick jelly. Looks great though but needs a second coat with these old walls.

The wife loves to get Xmas up straight after bonfire night. She loves the build up to Xmas but by boxing day night it's all gone haha
