What "man jobs" have you done today?

Finally got round to replacing battens under the shed - Started Saturday by emptying shed - I am sure sheds are like Tardis - My garage is full and it's three times bigger than shed.

First job was screw galvanised bars to shed and make some triangulation up to stop them bending

Then jacked up back by 20mm and put bricks under wood - then jacked up front and fed new battens in alongside old ones

Once all was in place it was just a case of dropping it down

If I was now having a new shed I would certainly put it on 2x2's crossways as in future it would be much easier to renew those than what I did today - Shed is 10x6 I think.

Spent rest of day trying to work out a better storage system and where to put lawn equipment so it's easy to get in and out.

A lot of the junk is off to tip - Why do we save 3 yr old tile grout ?

Building a small patio/paved area next to house. nothing big (10'x4') yet, there is anarea on the northside of the house between the steps of the deck and the house that never sees sun and wil be perpetually damp, plu it is hard to mow since it is 4ft wide and nothig will grow there apart from moss. Got some 12"x12" red paver to put down. Started digging out about 8" deep (4" hardcore, 1.5-2"sand and 2" paver).

The are wont really be walked on much and due to the small space a plate vibrator will be hard to use so i will compact the base by hand.

This is just a warmup for a bigger project in the summer, hoping to add about a 400-500s*** patio and path out of red brick pavers.

One more dose of stormy weather and my shed is gone...
The top of it just sits on the base, and most of the roofing felt blew off last month.
The floor has rotted away and is mostly sawdust now.

Really must bang a few nails into it...

Removed the old render from my roof stack & parapet wall . Removed 20x copenstones all cleared away on my own to the skip 2 lifts down .
Bedded new copenstones 2 with cuts. Scratch coated stack an wall.
Removed 1st 2 rows of roof tiles and felt. Removed old fascia n gutters / down pips. Fitted me new felt /fascia/gutter/ downpipe.
Redressed roof tiles n lead flashings.
Refitted tiles and started window sill stone repairs.
Wife comes home . I then Cooks 2 x sirlions and loaded the dish washer then went and played some bf4 til 2am. Up at 5:30am to ready up for work !!
Can't wait for a weekend off!

Go to Lidl and get half dozen rolls of Gaffa tap - start at bottom and walk all round working up as you go - when finished cut out the door.

Dave :D :D :)

CBA mate- rented house. Nice idea though.
When I moved in the agent said the shed was knackered, and if it fell down we wouldn't be charged for it.
I'll slap the felt back on as a token effort. It's too small to be a man-cave even if it were in good nick so not too fussed!

Bought myself a Titan Scarifier/lawn raker today, - great bit of kit at the budget end. Christened it today. Wow, cannot believe how much moss and thatch came out. Filled our recycling bin and our lawn is only about 60 sqr metres. - no more blisters :)

Visited Homebase today walked away £80 lighter! Just bought a few bedding plants and compost for the green house. Tided up the front garden, a much needed wedding and fixed a few loose stones in the wall.

Re planted the pots in the back garden just to make it look a little less wintery!

Spent yesterday and today clearing an area of land approx 70 feet by 8 feet of 6-7 feet high brambles. It's in the empty plot of land next to mine but I want to keep the growth away from my fence. This will now allow be to treat the fence panels as well

Also cleaned the pond pump and filter system as well as cleaned the waterfall. Put some blanket weed treatment into the pond.

Just hope my back allows me to get out of bed in the morning.

Repaired a table and put up a couple of outdoor lights on the wall. Was a really nice day today

e; One of them was the most stupid design ever. Most lights usually have the mounting plate come off so you just hold that up and drill through the holds, this one however decided it wouldn't. Decided to just drill through the plastic...

Blimey -I thought it was neat - you want to see mine - like a birds nest.

Dave

It is fairly neat and would have been neater had I done the entire installation but my neatness was limited due to the lack of slack being left from the people who did the original installation!

All terminations are both electrically and mechanically sound, and unlike a lot of cowboy sparks I ALWAYS double over terminations where possible (very important imho)

If I had bare copper showing on B16, B50 & also the main feeds to the netrual bars done like yours, I would have been given my P45 by my old boss.

I also ALWAYS double over terminations where possible, good to see your the same old school, I had that drummed into me over 30 years ago at college, & on the job.
