What "man jobs" have you done today?

Finished the destruction and tidy up of the hideous fireplace in our new house, I still can't believe how many bricks and chunks of concrete I have had to chuck in the skip! Only bonus was uncovering the original tiled hearth even if it is properly battered after someone concreted over it!

Started building a greenhouse

Started scraping the walls after I've taken wallpaper down. Taking off wallpaper paste is very time consuming. So noticed my sons room has a small spot of mould in the corner of the ceiling again. I'm wondering if it's partially due to lack if insulation in the loft, 1990s house with 100mm or so. What's the usual goto for insulation, I had a look and the silver backed stuff seems mega expensive, I've emailed local council to see if I can get any grants on it.

Last weekend we took down the stack in the most health and safety conscious way - pulling it down in a single large piece given its overall height - unfortunately the timelapse didn't catch the moment too well!

This weekend we've taken down the majority of the chimney breast through the building, although I've only got pictures of where we'd got to by Saturday afternoon - things got a lot dustier and sootier after this point!

We've got another chimney to do at some point, but it's more central in the house meaning we can stand higher up the roof and take it down properly, level by level, without the need for scaffolding, and can then take it down through the loft.

Sparky turned up today and the garage has power - finally. The old owners had a fuse board put in with sockets etc but no connection to the house! I've just buried the armoured cable at the front.

Cleaned the cassettes from my wife's bikes.

One just needed a good scrub, the other needed some rust remover after she washed it and didn't dry it properly. Took me about an hour but looking good now.

Don't make excuses - go buy biggest you can find -you will never look back and I bet you say "wish I had fitted more" :)
I have removed x2 old fluorescents this morning, strewth one of them was heavy lol
Replaced them with x2 6ft led - plenty light enough for the garage - I wish I had done this years ago now.
I have x1 5ft led to go in the pitched roof of the garage, as I store all sorts up there.....not fitted that yet....one of my upcoming tasks (not on the wifes list :-))

I replaced two LED drivers in the kitchen for the under cupboard lighting which were buzzing so much that we avoided using them. The drivers I replaced were 2x8w running a 7.5w load and I've replaced with 2x12w. Buzz free now :)

Also changed the halogen cooker hood lights for LED.

Today was spent in the loft fitting more insulation. It's a hell of a job but I'm over half way there now

What causes the buzzing, is it just cheap components? I've fitted some panel lights in our kitchen then have a slight buzz when being used.

I'm not sure if it was just because the driver was old or bad quality. When testing the original I noticed the more load you placed on it the more it buzzed/hummed.

Another thing that annoyed me was that the two drivers were different make/models and one (the one with the buzz) started up much slower than the other so I decided to replace both with identical units.
