What "man jobs" have you done today?

I concur, I made the mistake of trusting a fitted spirit level on a TV bracket a few years ago.....I put it up exactly level, put the TV up and made all the connections to notice it was several degrees out.
Messed with my OCD too much so I had to take it off and start again.....using a decent spirit level.

fitted this after the old outside one finally died in the recent storms, pleasantly surprised with this little loft aerial 100 % signal on all channels.

Added a fused switch to my slightly dodgy wiring: got a ceiling rose feeding power to my WiFi router in the hall. Been like this for years but as I'm moving out I thought I'd make it a bit safer/legal.

Also resealed the shower. Number of DIY tasks to do before I leave is getting quite small :)

Helped my dad dismantle a 6x4 seed and move it from his allotment to his garden. Never realised how much force it takes to get some nails out:eek:. Slightly wish we'd tried just carrying the thing in one piece:cry:.

It may be legal (probably isn’t), it’s still dodgy as even fused down!!
Thankfully it's about 8 feet up. I'm not too happy about leaving it in situ, but the alternative is to run an entire spur from a socket somewhere. The ground floor has none in the hallway so it'd be mininum drilling through brick wall, and likely a bunch of trunked cable too.

Replaced the two fence panels in the back garden that broke in the wind. Pleasently suprised that concrete posts have been installed all around previously. Just a case of slotting the new panels down into the posts. I say just the case, loading the panels on my car in the wind, and then trying to install them into the slots wasn't much fun!

Got a couple of things sorted this weekend:

1) New pir security light installed over the garage side door. Awkward job thanks to pathetic length of cable supplied.

2) Installed a new pull switch for the in-laws shower.

Cleaned wifes secateurs then my shears and also long handle loppers.
Found out why the Gardena lopper didn't cut -Blade is cracked top to bottom - It's lasted about 25 yrs and can't get a spare so might try welders locally - They are too good to throw away.

I have hated my Kitchen lights for a long time.

So I changed this:

For this:

Whilst its never going to win any style or design awards, the light output is so much better for cooking etc.

Laid the base for the shed - grass cut as short as possible, some bags of sand for levelling, weed membrane down, grids down and gravel to fill.

6*8ft shed coming in a few weeks. Once it's up I'll tidy up the edges with more gravel and edge the lawn.
