What "man jobs" have you done today?

Put a new PoE switch in the loft so I could migrate my Access Points and Femtocell from living areas into the loft also.

Have just found out the Femtocell causes noise on my headphones so going to have to relocate it to another part of the loft! Doh.

Cleaned out an area behind shed/workshop that was covered in ivy and all sorts of other crap. Couple of gravel boards have rotted out on the boundary fence and have let some earth slide. A job for spring or summer I reckon.

After having to use the kettle to defrost my boilers condenser pipe twice in the last two days, I decided to insulate it...

Hopefully that does the trick and sees the winter out ...

Ha ha I knew it would trigger someone  :cry:

I may get round to it but my fingers were bloody freezing and just wanted to come back in doors :D

@dLockers you'll be glad to know the TV is going next month when the new log burner goes in the kitchen :D

not if snow covers the drain. one of those plastic covers would keep the snow off though.

Yeah, I'm hoping with the warmth of the water coming out the pipe it would melt through, but good shout if we get another downfall

I demand you swivel the tys (spelling?) Round the back so you don't see the snip, and make them all equidistant before you trigger us all  .

Errrr, no :P

Why not do them all the same at least ?!

Why? It's not like I sit looking at it :D

@Simon Interesting pics, looks good. I'd be interested in seeing updates here. I'm building up the impetus to replace our ensuite bathroom and am thinking it will be a wet room style with level shower tray.

On that note, what tray / former / drain are you using?

Thanks. It’s a marmox shower lay 800x800 x 20mm. It’s sits slightly higher than the 20mm boards due the metal drain plate on the bottom. But as ufh went down everywhere but the former it kind of worked out. Will update with pics later.

Today, aged 59 and 3/4, I became a plumber. By which, I mean I think I've fixed something rather than waiting for an indefinite post-thaw period for a plumber to be available.

And when I say "became a plumber", I mean I replaced a blown compression joint near the garage sink with a pushfit end cap on a hot pipe, and cut through a blown cold water pipe to install another pushfit end cap on that. And they seem to be doing the job.

And when I say "seem" I mean I'm checking them every ten minutes in panic mode, while hearing a million things around the house that sound like DRIPPING!

My DIY history is not great, or confident, but after two nights of baling water because the stopcock dribbles into the system (fortunately not at my expense) and 30 hours of no reply from our plumber, I thought I'd bite the bullet and pretend to be a grown up. It will end in tears... or maybe drips... or full blown rushing... or... 'scuse me, just nipping off to check... again.
