What "man jobs" have you done today?

Built a desk up for my daughter. Made a few **** ups, see if you can spot them (or any others :p .

Humm the only thing I can see is that the top board of the shelves would normally be shorter so that the long edge on the sides go right to the top. This means the nails or screws go in from the side rather than from the top so the strain from the weight doesn't cause the fixings to pull out.

I'm not sure how important that is when the shelves aren't hanging off the wall though.

Looks nice

Top shelf with the castle doesn't look level perhaps but that might just be the picture.

Looks good though so can't really see anything that I would consider a F up, unless you forgot the screws.

Managed to royally F-up the dishwasher Hep2o appliance valve. Thank god I had a spare - however, for some reason the Hep2o key didn't work. Cue a 2min job becoming an hour of ******* about. Luckily I managed to cut off the bad bit of pipe, but my god what a balls up. Really disappointed in Hep2o in this instance. Never had it before -- possibly slightly poorly manufactured inserts that caught inside the fitting. Pics later if anyone is interested...

Anyway -- managed to sink 3 sockets in the wall (the socket chaser is GOD TIER tool) and wire in a single I didn't know existed.

Also got the fridge and oven units in - but I need the slightly larger spacers so a trip to Screwfix is required. I was going to put the oven in but I need to wire a single for the new microwave. Couldn't drop the power due to white noise machine in the 3/yos room!

Dishwasher is in PERFECTLY. Well chuffed with myself. I'll start to throw handles on tomorrow I think. 3 wall chases visible here, and I gave myself a spur up by the gas so I can put a single up high for Alexa to live on a shelf.

Some absolute top notch craftsmen ship on this old kitchen, interspersed with some absolute blunders - like cardboard packing.

Cardboard packing is not new -In 70's I watched chippy's using Woodbine and Park drive ciggy packets on new staircase.

I don't know for sure but I thought a wired hob needed it's own cable back to fuse board.

Also quick Q chaps - I just realised my new Microwave needs hard wiring. I bought a 40 amp junction box, can I use this to split the the incoming into two cooker switches? I would use Wagos but the 41A version only comes in a 50 pack, lol.

Edit: ah TS has them: https://www.toolstation.com/wago-221-3-way-compact-lever-connectors/p46660
This any good? https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/AA45DCOP.html
Used in two kitchens now, one to split for a twin oven and one for hob and oven (Calcs done for both and well under :D)

In the process of cleaning out the loft - came across these - used to spend a fortune on those big cables (forgot what they are) -all to go to the tip with rest of stuff I didn't know I had.
Keeping the ethernet ones though.

It was mainly that it sticks out past the window and the trv so it's a couple of inches from the wall (which might be tricky to see in the pic). It means the desk will move to the opposite corner and she will get a new smaller wardrobe.

Sorted the washing machine

Error codes, not draining, still water in the drum.

Used the manual door override, drained off the water in he drum, then pulled the drain hose filter .....

Do not machine wash, hand wash only ...

Look familiar ?

Mine is the same .

She popped her head round door and said she had put washer on rinse and spin again.
I just can't get it into her head that if she wants to spin put it on spin - rinse and spin puts you back to square one. Every time she asks same question. I usually take them out of washer then shake them and put them back in for the other spin -they dry quicker.

I thought you had washed the cat. :D

Only looking for kind words or silence on this as my body is absolutely broken and my mind as fragile  :cry::cry::cry:

No major challenges today, just long. All the units in, and most of the drawers drilled. I took as much of the crap as to save myself time later when I skim. New microwave in place too so will spend the evening reserving it an IP address and getting setup

It looks good, but how come you didnt you get the upper walls skimmed before putting in the worktop, won't it be difficult?

Beside your gas pipe I wouldnt have recessed in your socket! I'd stud out the whole wall as otherwise it'll be a slightly odd/obvious box in section. Still easy to sort it now.

It is such a small section - it wasn't exposed till I removed all the gear - I may even just cut a perfect fitting rectangle of plasterboard and it is "done" :)

Wait for the grand reveal

But worst case, if cutting the worktop around the wall is too much of a pain, yes.
