What "man jobs" have you done today?

Hours? he would do it with his eyes closed in about 5mins tops. Again thats why i said he wil do it for a pint. lol
You’re assuming there is only one!

If you’re swapping from plastic to brass, I’d have thought you’d want to be doing all of them in the room or perhaps the whole house.

Granted it’s the biggest room but my living room has at least 5 on the electrical plus tv points, networking, phone points etc.

Just be careful then. Watch lots of youtube videos and please disconnect the power from the fuse box first!

I think u can get some devices that make sure that the wires ain't live anymore

Something like this, also checks you've wired correctly

Just make sure it doesn't look like this:
Don't see the problem, they've obviously left so much wire exposed so if it slips out it will short out the fuse box and make it safe.... . Was that the work of an electrician that did it for a pint :p. When doing mine, I flicked the switch on to see the light or appliance was on, then flicked the breaker to make sure it was the right one. Our house is wired slightly different, there's a ring for the front and another for the rear, and I think normally it's a ring for upstairs and a ring for downstairs.

Thats the standard now mate.

Mines a tiny bit lower then that but the flat i use to ive on had it higher.
You are correct for a part M /recent regs it is a stipulation but if for a renovation of an older building I wouldn't bother (from someone that has an extension with high sockets!)

Chaps,

What's the craic on making these rustic looking floating shelves? I guess they are just old scaff boards with a bit of treatment?

How do you make them float?

Wingardium Leviosa? :D Look at the 8th picture, you screw the plug into your wall, and then the supporting pin screw into the plug and then slots into the back of the shelf.

Haha yeah fair - I was more thinking was there any guidance on fitting them. Presumably you drill it out and then have to route a slot?

Is it worth the faff or easier to just buy them :D

The guidance is, if you put them on plasterboard walls, use proper fixings and still don’t expect to load them up with books unless they are screwed into studs or the blocks behind if there are any.

Adjusted a couple of the straps I put down last week. Think you guys will like it, I tried pulling the carpet up, but it's glued. Where its got a gap against the skirting I'm going to put some quadrant down (going to preprant it first though).

In the dining room, I sanded this yellow crap off with 60 grit. Took me about a day... Please, what is the easier solution :D

Not very manly of me but I've got someone coming over to finish off some work I started :o hopefully he does a semi-reasonable job, 'good' is probably too much to ask for these days isn't it?
