What "man jobs" have you done today?

Older properties like mine only have a sewage pipe so the water board don't really like you to connect to it . They would prefer you to go to a soakaway, the only trouble for my area is that we are on clay.

Currently repairing and redecorating the ensuite and needed just one tile, but being an awkward size I couldn't find anywhere that stocked them.

I eventually found quite a few but I only needed to remove one...

Continuing with the shed today, last panel to fit on the roof now and then onduline to the front and a small facia of some kind.
After this, doors, window, flooring and walls so still a bit to do.

Has anyone painted a metal shed before? We have one of those green ones, had it for years, and it’s great for storing outdoor toys bits; it’s an eyesore especially next to our new shed. I was thinking about painting it brown; thoughts?

Not done one, but did a quick search on 'Painting a metal shed' and the results seem to suggest it is more than possible.

There are some all in one paints, but generally you will get a better job using a decent metal primer and paint. If you prime it with something like zinneser I would imagine you could use any outdoor paint over the top, but I have never tried it on metal so take that with a dose of salt

American fridge/freezer went bang on Monday, so out came all the fittings around it and all fixed today, so in went all the fixings and got all those other jobs done while the giant was in the middle of the kitchen.

So you connected an earth wire *DIRECTLY* to the new faceplate that you installed?
Riddle me this. Looking at swapping all sockets in the bedrooms now before the decorators come in. They’ve got nice new brown (x2), blue (x2), green/yellow (x1) wires. Much neater than downstairs.

But our new faceplates have two holes for earth and we’ve only got one cable. In the instructions one is labelled “functional earth” and the other “to mounting box earth terminal”.

Which do we use? Or should we have two earth cables? They are double sockets.

Replaced the air filter and petrol filter on the missus' car after she basically said it had no power (sounds like limp home) but hadn't mentioned it to me for a few weeks.. I now have petrol cologne.
The air filter looked like someone had driven through a dirt storm. The petrol filter emptied one side.. then stopped. tipped up the other way and allow more came out.. 58 plate, original petrol filter..

Got the bits together to tile the pond tomorrow and lay the final slabs :D
