What "man jobs" have you done today?

Kimi, Theres nothing wrong with tiling onto ply for a bath side panel, thats exactly what I did and its still good 4 or 5 years on. Think you might have to put a coat of primer on it first, to stop the ply sucking all the moisture out of the tile adhesive too fast.

As for how to hold it in place, some ball catches would work. You would just have to use a suction cup on the tiles to pull it out.

Depends on how hot he likes his bath. Wood expands and contracts with heat and humidity. Spending 15 quid on ply "as it'll do" or spending 30 on the correct stuff for me is a no brainer.

Worked 8 - 4 today came home and decided to install the roof of the second hand conservatory, after cleaning it all up the roof struts are up and ready to take the policarbonate sheeting tomorrow night after I've put some more screws in the wall.

Started Friday finished today. Cleaned the bricked driveway by using Karcher power washer and stone cleaner to remove the muck. Re-sanded the day after whilst sorting out any low spots. Today applied sealer and sorted out the bedding with new plants, weeding and stone gravel. Cleaned exterior upvc window frames and general cleaning. Knackered!

Need to get tarmac restorer and do the back next week, it's been neglected for years.

Fitted and plumbed vanity unit.
Fitted and unfitted cooker hood. 3 times.
Replaced 27 sockets and 11 light switches
Fitted curtain pole and curtains in Bay window.

Oh and turned the sprinkler on

Replaced broken socket in my parents utility room.
Repaired the cistern, seems the fitting had become loose.
Done some stripping
And washed the dog :p (she was not impressed)

Put in new copper piping and waste piping for the new sink-in-vanity-unit in the bathroom,
stunningly there were no leaks even though I was blowtorching an a very restricted space and the pipes were quite loose in the joints before I soldered them.

At least now we have a working sink back in the bathroom albeit free standing so I hope the kids don't pull it over.

I don't like the Eco-click mixer tap, i'm going to strip the insert down and remove the indents to make it back into a normal one.

Removed all the cupboard doors and draw fronts from the kitchen that were starting to look shabby and dated. The units themselves are fine, so I went and grabbed a load of new modern looking doors and handles and started fitting them. Bit of a faff with the hinges as the previous doors had different hinge spacing, but once I'd done a couple and figured out where they needed to be it's come along nicely.

Only problem I've got is finding a new door for the cupboard over the oven, it's a funny size and I can't seem to find a generic door that'll fit. =/

Rewired my shower but still trips the MCB on the full power (2 elements), still works on Eco ( 1 element)

So i guess the element has died. :(

Replaced some leaking manual valves on my bathroom towel warmer with a TRV valve. I find it really satisfying doing little jobs like this.

Also managed to keep all the water in the system by closing all the valves on the other radiators to lock the water inside them, so just a small amount of water was lost, meaning I dont have to waste £14 odd on a bottle of inhibitor.

What rating is the mcb and what kw rating is the shower? It may be tripping on overload rather than a knackered shower.
