What "man jobs" have you done today?

Built a shelf.

Made from a reclaimed Victorian floorboard. Quite chuffed with it.

Mrs N found a picture of a shape she liked for the supports and I made a template in a similar style and cut them out of the same timber.

A bit of work with files and a good sanding all over and I got something that looks pretty nice.

Well what haven't I done?

I spent about 6 hours (with the misses) planning, prepping and decorating for a feature wall in the nursery to be.

Then Put up a wall mounted TV bracket in the master bedroom, all that's left to do now is run and cable manage the cables.

Raked all the dead leaves from the garden (thanks to the time of year). I only have a smallish garden too and would hate to have to do this if I had a large garden.

Did a food shop and sorted out all the kitchen cupboards and the fridge (arguably not a man job but the misses is pregnant so she cant do much).

Need a 'real' weekend just to rest now.

Are you custom building this? Looks really impressive!

Yeah, custom build. From a pile of wood, to a shed hopefully.

We'll see how it works out though. Probably a bit too much slope on the roof, but it's so the snow can slip off, rather than just the rain (we can get some reasonable snowfall up here, and the shed is mostly sheltered from the wind).

Ideal for some guttering and water butts for free garden/lawn watering solution!

Looking at those pictures in reverse looks much better!

Having bit of an ikea flat pack marathon, yesterday and today I have been putting together furniture for my daughters bedroom, PAX wardrobes and a small desk area for working.

Can't believe how much the wardrobes weight, fingers crossed the new floor holds up.

Also secured all the wardrobes in my lads room to the walls now he is fully mobile and adventurous.

stripped half a sash box back to the bare wood so when it's repainted the detail of the moulding can really shine through after removing the years and years of paint build up.

Just the other half to do oh and the hours of sanding and prepping not to mention the four coats of paint but it is worth it in the end!

With the weather getting colder and wetter I decided it was time to finish installing a radiator in my daughter's bedroom. I had to branch off the main flow and return under the kitchen floor (rear of house), run under the hall floor into the porch (front of house), up the porch wall and then into the bedroom (front corner of house). Lots of soldering.

A very cautious refilling of the system and worries about leaks - but there were none! Job done, first time. Well chuffed. Practice does make perfect. :E

Yeah, what on earth is all that stuff? Is your baby going to be 7ft tall and born with eagle vision?

I am sure once the child grows it will appreciate kids book pages more than the previous image. Or at least that's the plan.

Its a good job I appreciate people have different tastes or I might have taken offence.

Thanks for the lovely comments though ;)

Not sure I am happy with layout - before second screen was on right - now on left. - probably get used to it.

Got pretty good at edging worktops today.

Still a few bits to finish.

After successfully doing all the landing architrave I decided to have a go at doing the skirting.
Managed to get it all cut correctly this afternoon and fitted some of it, will be finishing the rest off tomorrow.
Its worked out really well, got a decent saw and mitre block, saved me £100+ getting a carpenter in to do it.

Well, stuff doesn't happen through the week as I get home too late. Plus we didn't have the top & bottom rails for the front.

Quick dash to the sawmill this afternoon got them though, so managed to get a couple hours in...

Got the frame made for the second half too, but the light went, so we had something to eat instead. Only getting a half day in tomorrow, which should see that finished, and maybe a start on the roof, but I have to go to Houston Sunday for a couple weeks, so progress wont be made by me. But the old man will likely finish it off for me.

So, today we couldn't do much, being only a half day. Frame was put together last night...

Then clad and put in place this morning :

Then windows put in

That's it for me until I return from my work trip. My old man may well try and finish it off while I'm away though. So will update with pics then.

So Yesterday saw the slab go down for the steps on the conservatory, the stud walls go up, and the floor getting finished off. Also a friend came over to give me a price on plastering and rendering. Also fitted my new euro cylender locks from www.lockandkey.co.uk need to send one back as its measuted the wrong way around! oops.
