What "man jobs" have you done today?

Finally finished my 100% DIY bathroom after ~7 months.

The prep / first fix and floor structure took just as long as the tiling and furniture.

Is this an Australian fence? Your gravel board is at the top! :p

Looks tidy

Haha I just put them at the top as it was easy to get them level at the right height and then the feather edge boards up against it.

I may put gravel boards at the bottom or I might just leave the slight gap

Has anyone had to replace the toggle switch on their Screwfix Titan vacuum?

I have the full fat model and finding it difficult to find a replacement. Beneath the yellow thing is what would probably be a traditional 2 way switch?

Pained to buy another vacuum!

Has anyone had to replace the toggle switch on their Screwfix Titan vacuum?

When I get switch failures on tools I've usually have luck finding a switch via various Chinese sellers on ebay/aliexpress and at cheap prices.

Otherwise I just fit a different switch at the same place or somewhere else. However this got me thinking and for my current wet and dry vac I butchered a cheap remote control plug so I can use a blipper for on/off which is so useful when working especially after fitting a longer hose and now I rarely use the built in on/off.

Does this help?…

On that it’s definitely a standard, albeit likely sealed, rocker

Did the fencing on my neighbours side at the back.

It’s 1.9m high from my side and over 2m from the neighbours side. Am I right in thinking the 2m allowance is measured from my garden level? My ground level is almost up to the top of the gravel boards

The neighbour is happy with it anyway but would prefer to make sure it’s all above board :p

:)

That's a good idea, beats having to stretch across and turn it off when it's particularly awkward. If you have issues fixing it @dlockers just bypass the switch (short it out) and use a smart plug as Simon suggested.

Technically it's measured from either side, but if your neighbour is happy I wouldn't worry too much, as they are the only people likely to complain (as no one else is going to notice an odd 10cm or whatever)

Debating spurring one more socket into the other side of my office room whilst the floor is up. Can I spur off one leg of the ring with a junction box and 3 way wago connectors?

You need a proper function box but yes.

Ideally you’d cut in and extending the ring rather than spurring. It’s more cable but you maintain the ring.

Yeah defo do this and extend the ring. You’ll find it easier too if there isn’t loads of slack in the cable.

Slight extra cost in cable and 2 sets of Wago boxes

Drilled a hole in the shed so the extension lead can go out without me having to prop the window open. It’s going to be out a fair bit now I know the granny charger is more than enough to charge my wife’s EV once a week or so. I’ve also now plugged it directly into the mains socket!

Up and down the ladder like a yo-yo trouble shooting my second security light on the left side of the drive. I changed the dead right side from halogen to LED about a month ago and noticed recently the left stopped working too. Bulb seemed fine and it read 240v so figured the internals were dead.

Switched it out for LED the weekend before last but despite a 240v reading it wasn't working. So I took it down today and put a plug on it and it worked fine. Next I removed the connector block it came with to wago's which, as I expected, made no difference.

Frustrated but knowing it DID work I gave up and headed back to the garage with the ladder. On my way and walking past the working light I thought I would just quickly check the junction box, as the left light is fed from the right. Low and behold the neutral for the left light was a little short and had come loose

Also had a bash at using my router trimmer to roughly copy some architrave around our original timber lounge window, as there is a UPVC replacement opposite fitted by previous owners that we are changing back to timber to match. This was done by eye and is quite rough made from pallet wood with some adjustments clearly needed to replicate it more closely. Whilst it will never be a perfect match it will be significantly cheaper than having it commissioned or buying a spindle moulder...

(Ignore the O/H's paint sampling)

Moved wall mounted monitor to suit new bigger PC desk, built new chair and today will be running electrics & AV to behind the monitor and fit the 110cm Lack floating shelf above the monitor.

Sounds simple till you factor in it is a late Victorian built house with weetabix walls.
