What MMORPG are you currently playing?

I was always a UO player back in the day, and entirely missed out EQ. WoW was the first MMO I played that was anything like it at all (after going to DAOC from UO). Im going to give EQ a go now, been meaning to for years.

Downloading the trial as we speak.
Used to be addicted when it was first released sometimes playing 24+ hours non-stop.

Been out 10 months & feel quite far behind the guild I'm in, they completed another expansion, but in all honesty its not that difficult to get into the game etc - worth a trial anyway.

The progression curve was what I am mainl worried about tbh.. Ill give the trial a shot regardless, but if I decided to play properly - Is it really possible to catch up with players who have had a 10 year head start?

nothing atm... but i have got LOTRO and EVE downloaded and waiting for me after i finish uni on thursday lol! (both of which i have never really played, long time wow player)

as a few others have mention... looking forward to SWTOR, but that seems lightyears away : s

.. Christ.

I play WoW myself, but cant stand the ignorance of some of the fan boys.

I can't stand nerds who say "Fanboy" I played AOC, Warhammer, LOTRO,and so therefore i am allowed to say they were terrible games compared to WoW. Wow is far from perfect, but it's a lot better than the other tripe attemps.

none, finally cracked my addiction to them and can't see me going back. I get more of a kick out of other games and real life these days. I'd rather do some overtime and get some cash than mess about online :)

Didn't think I'd be saying that a year ago!

I know this might come as a bit of a shock and possibly a suprise, but not everyone likes the same things from games. So not everyone is going to prefer WoW to the other MMOs on the market. I for example prefer WAR due to the much more interesting and involved PvP, the better realised lore and backstory and the much less cartoony graphical style. Though my KoTBS does currently have an unfeasibly large sword, but I will let him off as he doesn't have some bizarre primary coloured armour set with wings and lightning bolts flashing off it.

Not only are people after different things in a game, but they are not the only MMO's out there.

I honestly understand that people have different tastes, but most of the other MMO's are fundamentally 'worse' than WoW. The netcode, the animations, the interface, etc, are worse.

Even if the gameplay style is prefered loads of MMO's feel too 'rough' to have a good time on.

I only just started WOW really, im a Level 69 Blood Elf Paladin and now i'm beginning to get a bit bored. I should really carry on until 80 but the game is beginning to lose it's WOW factor (no pun intended) :D

I've tended to stick with WoW, which was actually my first MMO.

Tried Eve once or twice, but just didnt have the willpower to get into it, especially when knowing so many friends that play WoW, which is shame since it seems quite good if you can get into it.

Got Warhammer near release, thought it was a big dissapointment tbh, thought the graphics looked old and tacky and gameplay generally bad. Tried to stick it out for as long as possible but still couldn't like it.

Im with WoW now, but not really raiding and focusing on pvp across multiple characters.

They have altered EQ quite abit, the lower level you are the quicker you get XP - they did this so that people can catchup to the high end content quicker. The same goes for AA Ability's the less you have the more XP you get for them.

Recently quit Darkfall Online so not playing anything at the moment. Will probably stay that way for a while, there is currently nothing out there that I'm that interested in.

I have never tried one and can't honestly say I really want to - even if its just to see what the fuss is about! :o

Battlefield2 & Flight Simulators are more my bag....

Does this make me weird? - ok, don't answer that!

None seem to woo me into playing. EVE got old hat, WoW is just pants, Warhammer is WoW.clone(); and LOTRO doesn't have decent pvp.

I gotta ask to the those who have played a few MMO's, do any of these more modern games stand up to UO in terms of freedom and versatility? If so i might start my second MMO :P

In my opinion. No. Not really.

None of the so-called "modern" MMOs that I have played come anywhere close to the levels of freedom and versatility of UO. UO simply did things 10+ years ago in an MMO that the "modern" MMOs can only dream of doing.

Its a pity in a way that more people didnt get the chance to play UO at its prime, if only they had the MMO genre might possibly have taken a different course and not ended up as a level 1, 2, 3, 4 , get x number of y item and take it to person z , I need a purple/white/orange/blue holy flaming 2 handed sword of the squirrels tail item, instanced, lack of game features, death is meaningless, fest that it ended up becoming.

UO simply was the greatest MMO I ever played. WoW may well have 84 billion people playing but imo its a poor poor MMO compared to UO in its heyday.
