What PC games are you playing?

I think ill start with 2033, i have heard amazing things about it.

I doubt ill actually play ACIII..

I keep coming back to don't starve but leave before i get far enough then when i come back i just end up dieing (there is no save feature).

Perma-death is a really old school game mechanic that's definitely coming back into it's own. Though it can be insanely frustrating I think it often serves it's purpose in encouraging the player to care more about the outcome of their actions (far too many games now have very little punishment for dying in them).

AC III is another AC game so you know what to expect if you've played the others I hear there isn't anything particularly new here. But the games themselves are quite pretty and I've always had a fondness for sandbox games so one day I will eventually get round to this instalment!

And, as I said before Metro 2033 is great. Graphics are so nice (even for a game a few years old) and the gameplay feels new and the story and the world are really interesting! :)

Essay over. TL; DR version = Games are awesome

I actually like the perma-death aspect of it, though i annoy myself for leaving it so long between playing it.

Have you seen that rogue legacy? That is a "perma-death" style game but your character comes back with different abilities/impairments which completely alter the experience.. Now that is innovation.

Games ARE awesome, im glad we cleared that up! :)

It's definitely an interesting idea but I don't recognise the name. Will have to look into it. :) Innovation is rare in so-called 'AAA Titles' these days so it's nice that indie gaming has taken off and that Steam are supporting it all the way.

I feel indie games are the coming to the forefront more, even through XBLA (ker-bsplaahh)..

The randomized traits applied to each of the three heroes you can choose from for each life make for a unique and entertaining hook. While the game's classes are rather typical (one has tons of health, one does massive damage but cannot get critical hits, etc.), traits often mess with you in fun and interesting ways. Your hero may be born with the O.C.D. trait, which gives you MP for breaking in-game objects in order to "clean house." One trait allows you to ignore spike traps. Another makes you fast. Some traits may be more burden than boon, however, like the vertigo trait that forces you to play the game entirely upside down. Still other traits have no gameplay effect at all, such as I.B.S., which merely causes you to fart constantly with no good or bad effect associated with it.

Waiting for the Winter sale for it. :)

It looks pretty darn good actually! Will definitely keep my eye on this one in the sale myself.

Also, I don't have an Xbox but you definitely have a fair point here. XBLA (and PSN) figured out that indie games are getting popular and have used that to bulk up what's available in their shops. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing!

I think the reason why it's more prominent on Xbox is that PC indie games are more easily ported to Xbox than PlayStation.

I'm in the process of playing through AC3 at the moment, it sucks. I loved every AC game before it but can't stand this one. I will complete it anyway before getting AC4 but I won't enjoy it lol.

That's a pretty brutal review but fair enough. Bit of a shame to be honest totally agree that the other AC games are pretty great. :) Have to ask, why is it not as fun?

It just doesn't feel right. As soon as I started playing it I wanted to turn it off. I pre-ordered it for the 360 and spent 15 minutes playing it before turning it off (played the others through fully and got all single player achievements). I decided to give it another try a few months later and managed to spend around 45 minutes playing that time. Still didn't feel right so I turned it off again and eventually sold it when my 360 died.

The only reason I have it now is I didn't want to get AC4 without finishing AC3 and it was on sale. Feels more like a chore than a game.

You may end up liking it, so far everyone I know that has played it didn't like it though (or complete it).

Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Loving it. :)

I picked it up in the humble bundle despite having already played it a few years ago and decided to give it another go...

It really is an awesome game and just as good the second time through :D

Think after this is finished off I'll play through City again and by then Origins should be nice and cheap (although I may leave a gap between the two so that the possible drop in quality isn't quite as stark)

That's fair enough to be honest. Bit of a shame though. I will no doubt get round to playing it at some point but will bear that in mind!

I felt similar about AC IV too to be honest when it was announced. It's like, rather than continuing the story and developing and improving the structure it has just become 'Assassin's Creed PIRATES' and 'Assassin's Creed US CIVIL WAR'. While I don't mind the historical aspect I was hoping for a bit more in terms of keeping it interesting.
