What percentage of your wage do put towards motoring?

About 1/3 (£10k p.a) at the moment but in six months that will drop to less than 10% as I will have finished paying off the car loan.

I have no idea how much my car has depriciated (a lot :( ) so I have not included that in my estimate.

hey i might even delete some users in the process :D

Nooo!!!

I'm just glad I was able to witness some OCUK history!

Anyway OT: As already posted 35% :D. Breakdown:

Loan 17.23%
Insurance 3.85%
Tax 1.67%
Tyres 1.41%
Fuel 9.23%
Servicing 1.28%

Wish I could remove the loan!!!

I presume people are talking gross here?

It's around 15% for me thanks to some BMW über bills in the last few months.

Not everyone pays tax at source via PAYE. Tax is just another expense that must be paid out of your salary/wage, I'd therefore suggest percentage of gross pay is the correct value to use... Unless you want to remove the cost of food too, given most people don't have much choice in that it's a bit of necessity too!

Of course, really it's the OP's fault for not specifying!

0% for me, I don't pay fuel or anything to do with the cars due to my job & My work policy extends to leisure activities & I get the choice of 15+ different cars to drive whenever I want :D

I'm not trying to brag but saying it how it is although In the fullness of time and when personal funds permit I see myself in BMW of some description and If I do really well Definitely an AM of some description.

If need be?

How come? Can it be turned into a poll?

Well not really but this might work.

Ive seen on another thread about power to weight ratio of cars where the op went through and created a shared spreadsheet on google docs that everyone could update. Might be an idea! :)

Wish I could remove the loan!!!

I have been waiting 4 years for this and still have 6 months to go, I am really looking forward to having £600 extra to spend on other things (or save if I'm feeling sensible but that's doubtful).

Do you know of a way to download the whole conversation so far into excel or word?

If it were me I'd be getting the itch to buy a new car with the money saving!!

About 3-5% a year (motorcycle :D)

When I look at the amount petrol, insurance & tax costs me I honestly don't mind getting wet or cold riding in the winter. >100MPG

If I include the amount it cost to buy and the other kit I bought this year it's probably more like 20-25%. Next year should be 3-5% though.

I myself am a motorbike owner :), with the 90-105 mpg and the sub 300 pound insurance, wet or windy, dry or sunny, i am on my beloved bike.

Turn on a more manly posts-per-page setting (so the thread is only on 2 pages) and then it's about a 10 minute job to just go through and do it?

Sounds like an easy way, cant think of any other. Will be nice and easy to compare on excel, can have pretty graphs and everything :D

Car is five years old, cost 12 new, probably worth 3 now.
Fuel costing me 2500 a year
Tax 35, insurance 465, mot and service occasional tyres maybe 200.
Nothing else wrong with it so far.
So ballpark 5000 a year, which is actually more than I thought I was spending.
Guess I do a fair few miles, 14000 ish.
35p a mile running cost over the lifetime.

(maths all very rough and in my head)

We can add a poll to a thread at any time.

Please do.

Can you include the following options?

0%

1-10%

11-20%

21-30%

and so on and so forth.

A 100%+ would be a good option to have to for those that have saved and spent more than their wage on their motor.

Thanks!
